Russian schoolbook aims to justify Ukraine war – BBC News

Published

on

Authorities in Moscow have unveiled a new schoolbook which aims to justify the war on Ukraine and accuses the West of trying to destroy Russia.

According to excerpts published by Russian media, schoolchildren will now be taught that human civilisation could have come to an end had Vladimir Putin not started his “special military operation” against Ukraine.

The textbook, called “Russian History, 1945 – early 21st century”, is the first approved history book to mention events as recent as the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Okay let's summarize russian bots narratives in the comments here.
1/ They cry how "evil Ukrainians" massacred us Poles by Bandera and how Ukrainians supposedely worship him nowadays – FAKE.
2/ Poland was "evil empire" that "started" World War II so russian "peacekeepers" had to help nazi – FAKE NONSENSE. Read Ribbentrop-Molotov pact and things that even russians themselves published in 90-ties.
3/ Lwów was Ukrainian – FAKE, it used to be Polish for centuries. We don't want that nowadays but back then it was Polish & Lithuanian (refer to Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth before russians invaded in XVIII century.
4/ USSR was last in Europe to sign treaty with Nazi Germany – FAKE. USSR (Russians) started World War II by siding with nazis and invading neighbouring country of Poland. Pact Ribbentrop-Molotov is the start of World War II, internationally agreed.

Nowadays russian spread those narratives to divide us, make us indecisive so we stop supporting Ukrainians. We will not. As Polish guy I will continue supporting Ukraine because that's the right thing to do.

BEWARE of russian bots and revisionists. They will do everything to mess up people's brains, to hide the truth, to spread lies, and eliminate what is inconvenient for them. The truth will prevail. Russian history is a rubbish that we should all beware of.

There are more than those above so be careful of sources you get your information from. Putin's/Russian books are not a good ones.

Japanese students are taught that Dokdo island (Liancourt Rocks) is a Japanese territory although it's Korean!!
They claim that Kuril Islands are Japanese although they're Russian.
And my Japanese friend said that they really learn it in their schools!
Our country was colonized for decades by Japan and they still try to steal our territory but nobody pays attention to it. The world is interested only in Russia and Ukraine…

That's because it is justified. Just because the West is running a geopolitical as well as energy proxy war against Russia doesn't mean the attack against the corrupt Ukraine is not justified. Look at a Map of NATO, not one inch further than east berlin?

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
