I think you have done a great service to the community because of food prices in the world these ideas make a cheap way of a meal and use what ever you have available. Thank you for sharing 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯😎😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍

3:47 Ben, i think you’re the one who’s given yourself the reputation of an alchy 😂

Says Pain right, but insists on saying BAY Marie 😂 I’m sure it’s trolling at this point

French toast being a luxury dish gave me a chuckle, because it was one of the first things I learned to cook as a kid, being both cheap and easy. It's still a go-to basic meal, though I prefer to eat it later in the day. Pancakes and waffles, FT's breakfast cousins, are a much bigger PITA – though equally delicious vehicles for butter and maple syrup

NO, NO, NO NO NO 🤦‍♂️
Extra cinnamon, sprinkle of sugar and then syrup to taste… Anything else is a waste of time and quite possibly sacrilegious 😂❤👌😉👊👍✌

1:35 No nutmeg? I believe the tiniest of grinds makes all the difference—like in a Béchamel. Not enough to really taste it… I have a kitchen gadget you should see: it is made and designed by Peugeot. It does nothing besides perfectly grinding nutmeg. Micro planing has let me down, repeatedly. This gem never does.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰💋💋💋💋💋💋🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🇺🇸🌸

0:09 before you get going, I would like to share that I was making savory bread pudding at least 3 years, before I saw it mentioned on any cooking show (both broadcast/cable and YouTube) or contest. I know I did not invent it, but I am super-proud of myself, for figuring it out, 3 years before the rest of the Anglo world did.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰💋💋💋💋💋🫶🏻🫶🏻🇺🇸🌸Your savory French toast is a smaller, faster version.💋P.S. we do not do “eggy bread” here. All eggy bread is sweet French toast.

that's not how you pronounce zaatar 😅

No raw fruit? No maple syrup? Sad.

You can also use nutmeg or mace instead of cinnamon.

Definitely keen to have a crack at the savoury, thinking I'll do it the same week I do croque monsieurs to help me use up a whole farmhouse loaf (taking a leaf out of your food wastage book boys)

I grew up with savoury french toast with tomato sauce on top. It wasn't until I was at a camp as a teenager that I discovered that sweet french toast is a thing and is what most people eat

Any suggestions for an egg replacement that would still make a faux french toast? Egg allergy is hard to cook with!

I thought part of the definition of french toast was it being cooked in grease, usually bacon grease? Is this a false tale I've been told or is there some origin

As a kid, we were always given french toast like pancakes, with sugar n lemon. Never even knew people ate a savoury version till I was in my 20’s!
