🥊 HAMED vs ROBINSON | 📺 #TheThrowback | The Prince Comes of Age

🎂As Prince Naseem Hamed celebrates his birthday today there be will plenty divided on how they view the Sheffield man’s career.

🗣️“As soon as he faced a top fighter, he got battered”
“If he’d have trained properly he would’ve knocked Barrera out” and
“If he’d stayed with Brendan everything would have been different”.

🌍The bottom line is that Naseem Hamed was ‘The Showman’. A global superstar with multi-million pound deals with HBO, Adidas & Sony PlayStation; even having his own computer game released in 2000 (Prince Naseem Boxing).

🥊In the ring, he was a bundle of contradictions: hands low, chin high, reflexes razor-sharp.
He fought with a southpaw stance, explosive power in either hand, and an instinct for dramatic knockouts.

🎭Outside the ropes, he turned ring walks into theater—arriving on flying carpets, thrones, or thrilling the crowd on Halloween night in the US.

😡Fans either loved the bravado or couldn’t wait to see someone silence it, which only made his fights more compelling.

⭐️His relatively short career may have ended with a whimper but Prince Naseem Hamed IS the biggest star boxing has produced in this country and the 5’3” Giant came of age on a rain-soaked night in Cardiff back in 1995.

🥊 This is The Throwback 📺

🤬Mike Tyson PUNCHES REF in CRAZY FIGHT‼️ | vs. Lou Savarese | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | Boxing

Published

on

Mike Tyson 47–3 (1) (41 KO) vs. Lou Savarese 39–3 (32 KO), billed as Tyson’s Back, was a professional boxing match contested on June 24, 2000.

Mike Tyson embarked on a comeback in 1999, marking his return to the ring after a nine-month hiatus, primarily due to a four-month prison sentence.

His comeback journey began with a victory on January 16, 1999, when he knocked out former world title challenger Francois Botha in the fifth round. Following this, Tyson faced former WBA Cruiserweight champion Orlin Norris, but their bout ended in a no-contest due to an accidental punch that landed after the bell.

Three months later, Tyson had his first-ever fight in the United Kingdom, defeating British journeyman Julius Francis by a second-round knockout. In February 2000, Tyson announced his next opponent, fringe contender Lou Savarese. Initially slated for Milan in May, the bout was postponed after Tyson reportedly needed more time to train.

The fight was then moved to Hampden Park in Glasgow, and rescheduled for 24 June. The decision to allow Tyson back into the United Kingdom sparked protests due to his prior rape conviction, but Glasgow City Council ultimately voted 10–1 in favor of permitting the match to proceed.

Nigel Benn vs Chris Eubank 1 | FULL FIGHT HIGHLIGHTS | WBO Middleweight Boxing

Published

on

Nigel Benn 27–1 (25 KO) vs. Chris Eubank 24–0 (14 KO), billed as Who’s Fooling Who?, was a professional boxing match contested on 18 November 1990, for the WBO middleweight championship.

Both Benn and Eubank fought at middleweight and super middleweight around the same time in 1985–97, and became rivals on both the domestic and world boxing scene. Benn won his first 22 consecutive bouts by knockout, earning the moniker ‘the Dark Destroyer’. Eubank was the cocky, flamboyant upstart who began calling out Benn after his tenth bout. The rivalry grew, with both men swearing that they would knock the other man out.

Benn, having lost to Michael Watson, began to rebuild in America, winning the WBO middleweight title by knocking out Doug DeWitt. He then savaged Iran Barkley within one round in his first defence. Benn then agreed to meet Eubank with his title on the line, which set up the first fight. A rematch was held three years later.

Once Benn had agreed to the first fight with Eubank, his entourage began plotting ways to demoralise Eubank and ‘even things up’. They decided to sabotage his entrance music. As Eubank made his ring walk to the sound of Tina Turner’s ‘Simply the Best’, the record suddenly stopped. Eubank ignored this, and made his way to the ring apron and vaulted to the rope as per usual.
