Antonio Berardi’s Autumn/Winter 1999 collection marked his Milan runway debut, drawing on his Sicilian heritage and combining Catholic and medieval imagery with a distinctly punk-inspired edge. Presented on a cross-shaped runway covered in candle wax, the collection featured religious-inspired robes, figure-hugging tailoring, miniskirts, sequined pieces, fishnet fabrics, and cross motifs. The palette centered on deep reds, blacks, and whites, while ornate headwear and Elizabethan-inspired styling reinforced the dialogue between historical references and contemporary fashion.
