Bangladesh investigates hundreds who disappeared | BBC News
What happened to hundreds of people who apparently disappeared in Bangladesh during the rule of the ousted prime minister, Sheikh Hasina?
Human Rights Watch claim that security forces were behind more than six hundred disappearances during her fifteen year rule.
Many of them being political rivals, Sheikh Hasina’s government consistently denied any involvement.
But now, the new interim government in Bangladesh has opened an investigation.

US celebrates 250 years of independence | BBC News
The United States of America marked its 250th birthday with fireworks, flyovers, some intense weather across the country, much of which has simmered under an unforgiving heat wave for days.
“The American dream is back,” US President Donald Trump told a cheering crowd at a delayed rally on the National Mall in Washington before the reputed largest fireworks display ever in the US lit up the night.
The 4 July federal holiday commemorates the 13 US colonies signing the Declaration of Independence in 1776 to end British rule.

Explosions injure 18 in Damascus during Emmanuel Macron’s visit | BBC News
Eighteen people have been injured after explosive devices went off in central Damascus, Syrian media says, reportedly near the hotel where French President Emmanuel Macron had been staying.
State news agency Sana said two devices had been detected by security forces, which exploded as specialised units began the process to defuse them.
One device was placed inside a parked vehicle, while the other was concealed in a bin, the agency said.
Macron has been in the capital for talks with his Syrian counterpart Ahmed al-Sharaa at the presidential palace. His officials said he was safe and did not hear the explosions.
