Those "facing poverty" should land on a beach from a dinghy and claim asylum, free housing and money going for the asking.

How the hell can people face "poverty" in Britain while being otherwise healthy individuals? I come from nothing yet have never claimed a penny and kept paying my exorbitant taxes.
I am sorry, but this is truly a land of opportunity and if a healthy person cannot make ends meet, whatever his/her background, they are just flat out lazy. Job adverts never lack in variety and scope, so what is the issue?
Why support useless leeches in the first place? The system needs to be far-far stricter on who they throw hard working people`s tax money at.
Also it is a slap in the face to see large families on benefits keeping on making ever more offsprings, while most taxpayers have to think twice about having even a single child. The system is completely broken and needs scrapping completely.

Give a living wage to disabled people unable to work, and those claiming other benefits must show 10years working contributions to claim any type of benefits problem solved

Free living 5 star just get over to UK .
Don't work and get a big pay rise.
Work and pay more tax and more cost to go to work
Get old and get asset striped for a few weeks of care or struggle on a pittance
Is it worth working for some is it worth living
What a lovely country this 🇬🇧

  14. @rix195

    January 28, 2024 at 3:42 am

Benefits should go inline with inflation. Anything below inflation is a benefits cut. Rising prices and benefits not rising with inflation will make it tough for the people on benefits. Cost of living crisis high inflation, high energy bills, rising rent, rising food prices.

The National debt when the Conservatives took over was £845bn, today it is £2,600bn they have tripled debt to provide austerity and death.

  18. @bren333

    January 28, 2024 at 3:42 am

The current inflation rate has been offset in part by the cost of living handouts reducing the need to upscale benefits by the full inflation rate.

Why would people on benefits get a higher pay rise than those that work.

  23. @uemackay1592

    January 28, 2024 at 3:42 am

Unfortunately we don't have any actual Conservative parties anymore. We have two choices the woke folk of Labour and the non Conservative Conservatives. Labour will win the next election and the people will suffer even more because of it but the Conservatives will have no one to blame but themselves.

Eventually a real Conservative party will emerge proably after several future years of labours horrendous rule , just like in Italy and Sweden this will create far right parties to emerge and be voted in. Eventually we will go far right, because left wing damages country culture and future.

The government cannot deliver prosperity but can inhibit it. They have delivered us into an energy supply crisis trying to engineer regime change in Moscow and now will try to soften the blow with more borrowing and printing.

    January 28, 2024 at 3:42 am

Perhaps the benefits bill would not be so large if it was'nt costing 7million a day to keep people who have entered the country illegaly, maybe they should sort that problem out & things would be easier for everyone, In particular those who were born here!

They done the same in Ireland they gave those on benefits an extra 12 euro a week but due to inflation it was a wage cut of 4%. The media celebrated how great the government was helping those on benefits never mentioning it was a wage cut. They think people are idiots
