Really?! The potential for earthquakes?! How about the very real potential of not having access to energy?
Have fun as a de-industrialized society.

This country should have gone to nuclear power 40 years ago and we could be sitting here on our little energy independent island. Instead successive governments have failed dismally to protect its citizens in exchange for profits. Renewables cannot produce the levels of power needed. 20 years of renewable investment has increased its yield from 13% to 15%, at this rate it will be the 2200’s before it will be viable. How many need die for their incompetence and green dream?

It's not the government restoring the fracking ban it's the WEF. Starmer (another WEFer) also wants it banned, as do all MPs owned by the WEF (and the eco loonies, who know no better of course).

    January 27, 2024 at 2:16 pm

Sunak is a WEF shill and the WEF dont want the UK being energy independent….

So elsewhere in Europe fracking is fine as we need the gas desperately, but to do it here is going to increase emissions and destroy the planet. America has been fracking for years so they must have a great deal more information on it's massive destructive powers. We must get oil and gas wherever we can at the moment at least until the world shortage is sorted out.

Fracking is absolutely horrific and should never be allowed

A ridiculous decision instead of producing our own energy we piously preach net zero then allow 3rd world countries to polute their environment in order to facilitate our needs. Sounds like colonialism to me, but the eco loons don't seem to mind that.

Go for fracking till you can find cheaper and reliable renewable sources, coz currently they are not at all cheap or reliable. So till we can afford that, Natural gas and Nuclear are the 2nd best options available for climate change.
Natural gas can be sold cheaper in local market compared to the international market coz it doesn't involve transport and storage costs, which is huge for Gas. But policies need to based on that, rather than just taking it out and then selling it at international market rate.

Sanoosh wants to live in America which has benefited from fracking.

people who are against natural gas drilling can only deliver a valid reason to the equivalent of looking back to why we hunted witch's down and burnt them alive in public out of hearsay and dread.

Has anyone noticed what Sweden has just done? Kicked out its entire Ministry of Environment! Cancelled Net Zero and reversing all sorts of nutty stuff. Remember how smart Sweden was in tackling Covid? They were right about that too! They have decided to prioritise social order and public safety currently being threatened by uncapped immigration! Now that's an idea……

Import millions of questionable people and end farming and fossil fuels, sounds like the UK has a bright future with solar power.

Unbelievable, there is no Energy crisis, only those engineered by the US NATO cabal, and the WEF Davos great reset brigade. We are financing our own demise, so to Europe, by being lapdogs to the corrupt US NATO cabal, with these Neo Liberal WEF Davos globalist puppets we call government, the global warming nonsense and the green energy insanity, We only get 5% from Russia, we have the North Sea gas, and are sitting on hundred of years worth of coal.

  24. @kth6736

    January 27, 2024 at 2:16 pm

Finally atleast one sensible decision by tories. Fracking should not be a part of energy mix. More wind and solar please.

  25. @alphabetaxenonzzzcat

    January 27, 2024 at 2:16 pm

"We need energy supplies in the UK" – okay, let's stop fracking. Great idea. If anyone still thinks this is down to "incompetence" rather than being done by design, then you have you're head in the sand.

Europe has enough gas. European gas storage is now full.

Sumak, More proof he is a globalist. Fracking creates less earth trembles than putting in pilling for a new building. Net zero is designed to reduce the population not to save the planet, this is just a miff.

  28. @whatever04811

    January 27, 2024 at 2:16 pm

If fracking upsets the Left then it must be a good idea. Let’s get on with it.

  29. @NoMercy-bt8xg

    January 27, 2024 at 2:16 pm

China has turned its back on Net Zero and are laughing at the west while making millions because they know its all a false narrative. The public deserves a vote on fracking, net zero and all decisions on so called going green. We didn't vote for any of this but then again we didn't vote for Sunak and Hunt because this is all a globalist WEF coup.

USA and EU don't want to see UK is benefiting from anything they don't have a share in it. USA strategy is to weaken UK and EU. They are successful so far.

  31. @1320613

    January 27, 2024 at 2:16 pm

It must be possible to extract UK gas without such aggression. I can understand the concerns of citizens worried about minor earthquakes but if the shale gas extraction could be proven to be safe then we should go for it.
