I love Big Ben, it is England’s landmark, is sad to know the building around it is falling apart and could at any time go up in flames. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I Love Big Ben The entire clock Tower. Ive just been wondering if they are ever going to install an elevator inside the tower? It really needs one and they should do it.

I don't really know about anyone else but for myself, the new colour scheme on the clockface is going to take quite a bit of getting used to with the gold and the Prussian blue paint.

I am aware of the reasons why it was painted like this as it's how it was originally but it's the first time in my own lifetime that I have saw it painted in these colours as opposed to how it was before restoration work began last decade.

I know that it's a form of Blue paint called Prussian Blue but it does look like a form of Purple at first glance.

Still, a nice change if a bit weird.🥴

Is it related to terrorist risks or other reasons ?

1:36 Can we stop this annoying visual cliche of starting a shot all blurry and coming into focus? Just start the shot in focus. Waiting for it to come in to focus is like the internet of 20 years ago and waiting for a photo to download and slowly get clearer, its dumb

Imagine travelling to London in the old days through pokey little villages and over rolling hills, having never seen anything higher than a few stories and then you get to the capital city and see that beautiful clocktower, would be a sight to behold

Smoking ban for people born after 2008 agreed in the UK | BBC News

Published

on

Children aged 17 or younger will face a lifelong ban on buying cigarettes in the UK, as the Tobacco and Vapes Bill clears Parliament.

Both the Commons and Lords have settled on a final draft of the “landmark” legislation, which aims to stop anyone born after 1 January 2009 from taking up smoking by making it illegal for shops to sell them tobacco, to create a smoke-free generation.

When it gets royal assent, ministers will also have new powers to regulate tobacco, vaping and nicotine products, including their flavours and packaging.

It is part of a series of measures aimed at tackling the health effects of smoking, one of the UK’s leading causes of preventable death, disability and ill health.
