Yemen: Houthis to be re-designated as terror group by US | BBC News

Published

on

The US will re-designate the the Houthis as “global terrorists”, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced on Wednesday.

He said the designation is in response to the Iran-backed group’s attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

The decision will require US financial institutions to freeze Houthi funds and its members will be banned from the US.

A Houthi spokesman said the decision would not stop the group trying to interrupt Israeli shipping operations.

On Wednesday evening, a Houthi spokesperson said the group had successfully targeted the Genco Picardy, and that the attack was a response to “the American-British aggression against our country”.

Typical of the US can't beat them so redefine the narrative and change people's views on an organisation that is definitely not terrorists. They have done it for years anyways. Wasn't mandela listed as an terrorist by the us. Thei cia should be declared terrorists due to all that they have in the world for the us goverment.

The Houthis' slogan this past decade is "God Is the Greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, A Curse Upon the Jews, Victory to Islam"

In other words, they are off the scale certifiable.

So What if Houthis are declared as terror organisation by. USA . America has declared Al Qaida and Taliban as Terror Organisation , but what has happened . American President bows before Taliban to give them passage to escape from Afghanistan. It was a shameful Withdrawl. But since this was common in their society as long ago they have escaled from Vietnam . Houthis are becoming more powerful day by day . Attacks upon US led ships in Red Sea are going high day by day . Israel within a short time is dying day by day .

Join the AI Decoded team as we examine Sam Altman’s vision for an era of artificial superintelligence. The Open AI CEO is calling for a new kind of social contract — an “AI New Deal” — arguing that unprecedented technological power will require rethinking how the benefits are shared, including ideas such as wealth redistribution and even taxes on robots.

Also in the programme, presenter Christian Fraser is joined by leading AI thinker Gary Marcus and Oxford University robotics expert Professor Sara Bernardini to explore what a future shaped by autonomous machines could mean for work, safety and society.

Plus, tech reporter Lara Lewington meets 19‑year‑old student Maeve O’Neil, whose smart ring detected a life‑threatening health issue before it was too late.

Has Trump’s feud with Pope Leo crossed a line with Catholics? | Global News Podcast

Published

on

There is continuing criticism from Catholics around the world, as US President Donald Trump’s feud with Pope Leo escalates. Trump said Pope Leo XIV was “weak”, and posted an AI-generated image of himself on Truth Social, which many people believe depicted him as Jesus.

The image, which has now been deleted, showed Trump appearing to heal a sick man in a hospital bed. He said it showed him as a doctor. The image post came hours after the president posted a lengthy message criticising the pontiff, who is a vocal critic of the US and Israeli military operation in Iran.

Italy’s prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, has said Donald Trump’s remarks are ”unacceptable”. Meloni, who is Catholic and heads a right-wing coalition government, is a close ally of Trump.

Pope Leo said that he has “no fear” of the Trump administration. There are more than 70 million Catholics in the US – many of whom are swing voters. We ask the BBC’s religion editor, Aleem Maqbool, if Donald Trump’s row with the pope has dealt lasting damage to his Catholic support.

BBC investigation finds lawyers coaching fake LGBTQ+ asylum claims | BBC News

Published

on

A shadow industry of law firms and advisers is charging thousands of pounds to help migrants pretend to be gay in order to stay in the UK, the BBC has found.

In the first part of a major undercover investigation, we reveal how migrants whose visas are due to run out are being given fake cover stories and instructed in how to obtain fabricated evidence, including supporting letters, photographs and medical reports.

They then apply for asylum claiming to be gay and in fear for their lives if they return to Pakistan or Bangladesh.

In response to our findings, the Home Office said: “Anyone found trying to exploit the system will face the full force of the law, including removal from the UK.”
