I have grown to understand that Brits truly have no understanding of American foods. Yes, I mean Canadian and USA foods. Mostly USA foods. They have them almost all wrong…🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻💋💋💋🇺🇸🌸

No one ever eats a grilled cheese sammich, thinking of health. That is why I almost never eat them.🤗🤗🤗💐💐💐🇺🇸🌸I am American, and I did not grow up eating this.

Same bread, 50/50 mozzarella and gouda cheeses shredded, thin slices of smoked ham, thin slices pineapple, butter and slowly toast. A flip on the open faced bread version baked in an oven my father used to call Hawaiian grilled cheese but he used American cheese slices (yuk). Lol I leveled up my father's dish. Lol

this video just made me think of how I could use tomato or tomato soup to give grilled cheese the taste of dipping, without having to also make the soup

Only thing different we would do is my family is BIG fresh tomato fans… Add some fresh tomato while your cooking in the middle. 😲 😋

while i like the idea of giving your sandwich a sweet and spicy zing, theres only one problem with this. This is NOT a grilled cheese sandwich. it is pan fried.

  23. @diamondalexiss

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

Mayonnaise works great for spreading on the outside as an alternative to butter, best part is you don’t taste it! Gives it an awesome golden crust!

  24. @MacCalder86

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

An extra grilled cheese tricks: butter both sides of the bread and fry the insides of your grilled cheese – whilst at the same time, build a little "boat" for your cheese out of aluminium foil and throw it under the broiler to melt. When the insides are toasted, flip one piece and slide your molten cheese onto the toasted sides and put the other piece on top (so that one of your previously un-toasted sides is now being toasted and the other un-toasted side is facing you). Flip once brown, fry the other side and serve. The "grilled cheese" grilled cheese sandwich. Works best with a thicker bit of bread – so that you still have a soft bit in the middle.

Here a recipe from Germany ( I think it originated here, not sure though.):

    1. Slice bread and dunk it into beaten eggs with some pepper, thyme, basil, fennel and parsley. Add salt when you are not an omnivore.
    2. Melt a little garlic butter in a pan and fry the bread on both sides. After the flip, when you are frying the uncooked side, add your choice of topping ( I usually go with a mix of sliced bacon ( prefried), salami, cherrytomatoes and fresh basil leaves) and put some cheese of your choice over the already fried side.

I'm curious on how you will level that up ( If you do). Keep up the good work and thank you for the inspirational ideas. 🙂

This inspired my dinner last night. I made fettuccine with 3 cheese sauce, fried bacon in some paprika butter, drizzled honey, thyme and some brown sugar, and served together. Was so good! Gonna make the sandwich today!

  35. @kimchiburger7844

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

Too late to the party, but taleggio, gruyere and bitter honey, is a great flavor profile. Add some pesto or a sprinkle of espellete

  36. @katiemorrill4318

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

I never use grated cheese because it doesn't all melt. you can see inside the sandwich after he cuts it that the cheese is still in grated strings, rather than being completely melted into one blob

  37. @reidecember5372

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

Considering Mike hates cheese, he sure works with it a lot. Glad he isn't biased and works around things he doesn't like.

    "only need a few ingredients"…
Uses more than double the regular amount of ingredients! Looks absolutely delicious though 🙂

  39. @bosso1

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

You dont butter the inside you only butter the outside

hang on…. the bread was not part of the ingredients

  42. @alyabelknap4795

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

I make my grilled cheese with garlic and parsley on the bread with the butter and use sharp cheddar cheese with a bit of american cheese and pepperoni

  43. @angelacuff7695

    January 23, 2024 at 3:43 am

So, I followed the recipe, but substituted chili powder for the cayenne pepper and right when the bread hit the pan IT STARTED SMOKING AND NEARLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. My bread was completely black, my smoke alarm went off, and the pan I used is now in the trash can. In summary: i hate my life.
