Landlords are already selling up and getting out, which is going to make life more difficult for renters. Is this another strand of the globalist agenda "you will own nothing and be happy" (the banks are buying up loads of property, I wonder why).

The biggest problem in the UK that all these people gloss over is that too many homes are not owned, they are rented out by multiple property owners. A change in the tax laws should be made to make it less attractive to own and rent out multiple homes. There is a shortage of housing because individuals own too many properties. It is a useless industry that provides the UK with nothing to export. It only serves to make wealthier people richer and poor people poorer. Sadly the individuals in government that need to make change are the multiple property owners. The housing market in the UK is fox and rabbit affair and as we are seeing again a collapse has happened every 15 or so years because of this. It does not promote a stable strong economy.

Best way to put landlords out of business is to make council housing available. Deposits are going to be big now due to the risk. Be interesting to see how the do gooders respond if the availability of private rentals is significantly diminished. You guys gonna provide affordable housing then? Nope, didn't think so, it wouldn't make you enough dollar.

This man stating immigration isnt the problem because if we stopped it today we still wouldnt have enough houses for the people.

THERE IS TOO MANY PEOPLE HERE ON THIS TINY ISLAND!!!!

we dont need more housing estates where the houses are built so slim and small compared to past builds its a disgrace. We are on of the most nature-less lacking in greenery countries in the world and this div wants to build more high rises/flats and poorly designed new build estates.

This is a cheap trick to get more landlords to have the outlook of “if i just sell this house to the council/housing/government. I wont have to deal with all these problems.

They are effectively pushing the narrative of “you will own nothing and be happy”

    Dangerous times we live in

Real Estate is Bussiness not Charity

For everyone moaning at landlords you do realise were screwed like this because the government hasnt hit 1 target for building new homes in a decade if anyone needs to have a go at anyone, everyone should protest about not having enough housing isntead of feeling like they have rights to someone elses property that they could of spent there whole life working up to but yet its easier to blame the landlord and another thing before the landlord lets you move in, you couldnt give 2 shits about that landlord. hell no. no one does but then the landlord has to give a shit about you and the fact you might become homeless

Lol, a mortgage will cost you loads more now than renting. Expect a flood of early evictions now before this stupid legislation comes in to force.

Too many people coming in every year. Lets say we build 300 000 this year, and the next and the next and so on. It still won't be enough.

As for Starmer building on the green belt, there are plenty of brown belt areas that need cleaning up, there are lots of empty mills that can be repurposed or in some cases demolished.
I live in a semi rural area, but all around me green fields are disappearing, usually for pricey private housing, with a few social houses thrown in just so they can get the planning passed. There are a lot of places round here that are old factory sites, mills & simply infill areas they could use first, but I suppose these areas might not be quite as saleable & at the end of the day, builders only build where they can get the best prices. Maybe councils themselves should start building more social housing & not sell it off again. Oh & buy the way regardless of how many extra housing estates they’ve shoved in round here, there have been no extra schools or doctors & the hospitals seem to get downsized & outsourced.

Socialism creeping into the Conservatives, they really have lost their way, the current system works and creates both profits and tax revenues. Being a landlord is about making a profit and maximising your return. Why is GB NEWS 1. Not slating these reforms and 2. Mentioning Labour, they have done enough damage to our country already, we certainly don't want them in power again.

They say landlords will be handed more 'powers' to evict antisocial tenants but how long will that take? Ban 'no fault' evictions and most private landlords will walk away. It won't be worth the hassle of having to go through endless court battles to get rid of people trashing their property.

I write from Dublin and we have legislation surrounding landlords selling their rental properties; however, it's pretty useless. Landlords in Ireland simply say that they are planning to sell up, or that they need to move a family member into the property. These excuses are rarely, if ever, verified and even when found to be fraudulent, little is done by the authorities. Only the imposition of heavy fines and sanctions can control such behaviour by landlords. Personally, I have never met an honest landlord!

My daughter is a private rental, been living in the home for 13yrs, her landlord gave her a eviction notice for her to vacate time limit two months. She has never been anti social, never behind in her rent, doesn’t use the home for illegal activities. She is worried sick, she has gone to council they say it could take up to four yrs or more, to get a home. She works hard, keeps the home clean and tidy, but since she moved in,her landlord has used the back garden to store rubbish. She has never been able to use garden, or allow her children to play out there. We are so worried about her, she has two sons living with her, one working the other in college. She was in tears on the phone last night, and we had no idea how we could help her, we only live in a one bed bungalow, so no room for them here.

It is the immigrants. The reason why we don't have enough houses is due to immigration. Ship a million people into the country in a year and there is bound to be a problem. Same reason no school, doctor or hospital places. Both main parties are the same, they don't give a toss about the people of this country and they never have done. The idiots, sorry, the electorate will keep voting these liars and charlatans into power.

A.I. facial recognition tool to detect adult migrants posing as children

Published

on

By

An AI facial recognition tool that aims to detect adult migrants posing as children will be deployed at the UK’s borders next year.

The software will estimate a person’s age by analysing photographs of them taken at the border.

The Home Office says the technology will make it easier to identify adult migrants “attempting to game the system”, after initial testing indicated “promising performance and accuracy”.

But Human Rights Watch urged the government to scrap the scheme, describing it as “unproven technology” that will undermine the protections vulnerable children are entitled to.
