The only reason I can think of, why Anne Widdecombe would join her voice to the Labour mp's. Is because they all have stupid amounts of money, and if Joe public knew. The debate would be, should they be paid wages for being a politician at all. They've just spent an amount of money, that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will be expected to pay. So I don't really care if Ms Widdecombe would leave politics, if the gov and banks want intimate knowledge of my finances. Mp's should be the brave people, and enter that particular world first. If there's nothing to fear about it, they shouldn't be so reluctant to become a subject to it.

It is our business when so many are dishonest with everything including their expenses. Let's not forget he was claiming the electricity bill for heating his stables. He's an inveterate fraud.

Yeah because so far we really have attracted ‘the best people’ coming into parliament 😂 what a joke. Furthermore each member should publish what bills they have voted both for and against.

As MP's and councillors are in the public eye, I think it might be interesting to really see just how much… "we're all in this together"? In my opinion…

4.8 million on an income of 27million. Lol. Didn’t he do well. Only 18% even including the 30% fine. But Anne is right. 5 million is probably sweet FA to him.certainly it’s sweet FA to our billionaire PM.
All politicians have something to hide. Higher rate of criminality than the population average. They sail close to the wind.

  10. @Jamal-jv8yc

    January 20, 2024 at 5:04 pm

Yes, absolutely. They’re forcing GPs to declare their income. What goes around comes around.

We do not know the facts of the case. It should be remembered that HMRC do sometimes make mistakes and that some of the tax rules are not crystal clear and can be open to interpretation. I would guess there must be thousands of people in dispute with HMRC at any one time.

  16. @paulslater9061

They shouldn't need to be forced it should never come into the equation

God bless the second amendment, regardless of what Ms.Widdecombe says out of context. The private club of Parliament (like the medical profession) closes ranks when the going gets tough and feels that the outside interests of MP's should remain private. If we are now attracting the best quality of representative, then God help us. Let's hope for a lesser, but more honest, House in the future

Khalid the Labour MP would claim expenses for himself and his mistress at the 1500 pounds a night Bentley hotel, so another sanctimonious Labour Party hypocrite then.

Khalid the man who jumped the covid queue to get his covid jab, another sanctimonious Labour Party hypocrite.

  24. @kristinabelievesinfairies

    January 20, 2024 at 5:04 pm

Absolutely yes!! They serve us, not the other way around.. People should know exactly where their taxes are going.. Politicians heating their stables when the vast majority of people can no longer afford to adequately heat their own homes!! They should be on minimum wage..

  25. @DavidGetling

    January 20, 2024 at 5:04 pm

If you earn all your money honestly and decently, and don't use it in any nefarious manner, then you shouldn't be in the least concerned about making your financial transaction public.

  26. @andrewoliver8930

    January 20, 2024 at 5:04 pm

And people don't wonder why the government reduced the budget of HMRC.
    It's so blatant.

  27. @karllambert9827

    January 20, 2024 at 5:04 pm

All MPs and all those on a public paid wages should be investigated and treatment by British law like a drug dealer, finance's to lifestyle checks, and unaccountable Rich's given back to the British tax payers purse, and spent on British public interests.

  28. @rabmcleod3508

    January 20, 2024 at 5:04 pm

Everyone’s tax returns and earnings should be made public.
There would be an absolute outcry when people realised how much some of the ‘poorer’ people actually earn.

  29. @themuttsnuts1

    January 20, 2024 at 5:04 pm

One question: 'Why not?' If there's nothing to hide from the public, then publish.

Published

Watch as Will Kensington expresses concern about the state of the UK, arguing that Downing Street is no longer a place of power but has instead become Britain’s most expensive Airbnb.

This comes as Andy Burnham is set to become the UK’s seventh Prime Minister in a decade, with seemingly no one challenging the “King of the North” for the country’s top job.
