I speak from experience, as I have met Ellie Chowns (she's warm) and distributed leaflets in north Herefordshire.
The current Torry MP (Bill Wiggin) is very unpopular and his party has done very little in preparation for the upcoming general election.
Internal door-to-door polling shows that there is a good chance that she will get in, with the only real obstacle being the issue of £200m bypass that many people especially in Hereford want, as Hereford isn't in the North Herefordshire constituency this should matter less.
In my opinion, I think the chances of a green win are more like 50-50 (predicting some people think they should vote labour).
@Mikebloke

Often there is an assumption at times like this that third parties get more votes, but actually what tends to happen in voting squeeze and protest voting for the main alternative party. See labour leaning people voting Tory and Tory leaning people voting labour out of frustration.
Labours recent purge of ethnic minority candidates (including many incumbents) will likely stir trouble in select urban areas but will not effect the end result.
The cross over of protest results may make what might be a simple election to predict quite murky.

This video is AI isn't it ! amazing rendering of the video , just given away by the robot voice ! … Content though not so sure ( suggest skip 5min warm up). Trans in fighting doesn't matter if the public never hear about the Greens… With Climate Change as the most important problem the world has ever had you would think the Greens would be invited on every channel frequenly but .. Constantly since the beginning of UKIP the uk media big up the alt right but shadow banned the greens .. The media is establishment or owned by elites. the Greens , essentially green & left represent a threat to elites that labour doesn't now. The main parties try to avoid Climate becoming an election issue, & try keep the public disinterested ( COP summits are always held in cold Nov not in heat wave July)

The greens (in most European countries) are doing badly because they represent policies and political view very equal to communism and once people realize this they abandon them.

The Green party is the worst on environmental policies.
In the last general election I voted as a single issue voter, I read the manifestos for all 4 parties and the Green's was worst, full of pseudoscience bs, anti nuclear, anti GMO, pro organic farming.
Surprisingly the Tories manifesto was the greenest, unsurprisingly it turns out they were lying.
@realscottsummers
January 19, 2024 at 3:51 pm
For me as a left wing person concerned with the environment, they're against nuclear power, they have a strong history of ludicrous misandry, they're more into identity politics than actual green measures, they don't spend enough time proposing FEASIBLE green policies and they're more activist/disruptors than actual potential governing politicians who might constructively DO something.

Um, if you're going to make a episode about why the greens are doing badly on this channel, as opposed to a UK specific one, perhaps it would be a good idea to include some clue about this being UK specific in the title of the video?
Just saying?
The UK greens are a bit different from many of the other ones.
Here in Norway I vote for the Greens, but in the UK I'd probably vote for the lib dems.

If you're a political content creator, there is no easier pathway to driving engagement than "why isn't <insert progressive movement here> having more electoral success?"
A close second is "what <insert right wing movement here> means for you"
@paulstott5130
January 19, 2024 at 3:51 pm
If they stuck to policies that actually were about Green Issues, like the environment and enact educated positive policies and ways to progress change without decimating the economy. If they ignored the Leftist Marxism elements of their party they may actually do well, but the Green Party is literally Green only by name.
@badcrab7494

Don't think it helps that you don't have the current green party leaders in the thumbnail, kinda explains one problem.
@WilliamAhlert
January 19, 2024 at 3:51 pm
This is wildly dishonest. You've failed to provide comprehensive evidence of negative impact on election polls due to the infighting from trans-related issues. We can say it's never a good look but hang on – isn't the identity of every major political party other than greens in this country defined at the core by infighting currently? Compared to those lot the green party is incredibly united in our stance.
WHO OWNS YOUGOV? Of course they want to exclude the green party from polling. This is not authoritative.
The green party being pushed out of public conversation in mainstream news is not good enough an argument of the merits of our politics. We are ENORMOUSLY popular.
You've just shown one thing – that you are scared of the dangers we pose to the status quo.
@jeffafa3096
January 19, 2024 at 3:51 pm
In The Netherlands, it's mostly due to the left parties' stances on immigration that they tend to score lower than expected nearly every election, even though it's a wrong stereotype that just won't die. My guess is that in the UK this at least accounts for some of the low scores too, as a lot of right-wing parties in western Europe are doing a lot better because of this.
Also, why is it that politicians feel the need to say how one must express their gender? Can't they just leave trans people alone for once?
@felixg1605

I am a supporter of the Greens, and I think their success will be in the much longer term. In this election I think they will suffer, because one of the main aims will be to remove the Tories from power. So there will be tactical voting to just to beat them in as many seats as possible. So many Green voters may well vote Labour or LibDem. There will not be a major improvement until PR is introduced. Caroline Lucas is a said loss, and I thought Siân Berry and Jonathan Bartley were two of the most impressive leaders in British politics. I don't really get the same positive feeling about the current leadership.
@Afterthoughtbtw
January 19, 2024 at 3:51 pm
I can't vote for the Greens – there is far too much anti-scientific nonsense in there. There is so much misinformation that they regurgitate about nuclear energy, for example. If we are going to combat global warming, we need to stick to the science, and steer clear of new age-y stuff. So ironically enough, for environmental reasons, I could never vote Greens.
