Coconut Rice Pudding Recipe – SORTED

Published

on

Why get rice pudding out of a tin when it is so easy to make at home?

This sweet fragrant rice pudding is a taste of Thailand with coconut, lemongrass and mango.

Take the stress out of cooking for your friends as this is best made in advance and stored in the fridge until needed.

I followed your recipe but mine never "set up" like yours, even after chilling it's runny. Tasty but not gloopy like it should be

…*pretending they added more coconut milk at the end and putting this on my vegan playlist, anyway*

This might be strange, but my family have always made it with a lime peel. It's taste great and I can always tell if it was cooked without one. My family is from Michoacán, Mexico btw. I know that in every country their tends to be different regional ways to prepare things. My favorite being that our enchiladas are sort of dry instead of smothered in sauce.

    We make a similar, simpler version at my house sometimes — jasmine rice cooked in coconut milk topped only with mango chunks and a sprinkling of sugar. Not so fancy but still good! we've got wild mint growing all over the place out here, maybe next time i'll add a sprig (;

Uh.. I'm fine with the old fashioned rice pudding with just milk and eggs. All these chefs adding fruits and other ingredients is just ridiculous.

In Denmark we eat it both warm and cold, but for Christmas. Warm with cinnamon sugar and butter, cold as a dessert stirred up with whipped cream and served with cherry sauce.

Noooo You're supposed to use sticky rice…

  21. @enzosison3799

    January 16, 2024 at 9:04 am

SORTED Food It's much easier and you get more mango if you cut the cheeks of first with the skin on, then do a hedghog cut (crisscross pattern) then just scoop it out with a spoon.

We have something similar in PR. We call it Arroz con Coco, it's firm with raisins inside and served with cinnamon.

guys you really need to learn how to cut mangos 😀

  24. @beachboi83

    January 16, 2024 at 9:04 am

This looks good and I'm sure it tastes good too. But the real Thai mango sticky rice uses sticky rice (not risotto rice) and really sweet mangoes on the sticky rice. No lime juice, mint leaves and pistachios are added. Then lastly with some coconut milk and a sprinkling of sesame seeds on top the mangoes, it just tastes sooo delicious. I love it… It's one of my favorite desserts 🙂

Pardon me if I'm mistaken but did Barry call it a sweet Thai green curry near the end? Or was he just comparing the two?

  28. @Lionstar123

    January 16, 2024 at 9:04 am

Would I be able to substitute the risotto rice with orzo pasta? I made the mistake of buying the wrong one and I just wondered if I could put the orzo to use instead of having to go back out and buy the risotto rice. Thanks!

This is look a bit confuse to me cus in Thailand we have a lot of too sweet dessert. This dish is interesting! Especially the mango salad.. I have to try it out 🙂

My family has warm rice pudding with rasins every christmas, and we play a game where one of the bowls has an almond in it and we try to see who wins.
Thankfully, no one in my family has a nut allergy

I ate a version of this snack/meal in Indonesia a lot, except we had ours warm and used gula jawa/merah/aren (coconut sugar) to drizzle over top. Very delicious!

  32. @greenbirdie1212

    January 16, 2024 at 9:04 am

I may just be really stupid, but I didn't find it clear at the part before we put the rice in. I'm making this dish right as I type, but I put the rice in before the coconut and water started to boil. Should I have water until it was boiled to put the rice in or will I be okay?

I am Indonesian, but I had went to Thailand, and there is a popular dish in Thailand which is mango or durian with sticky rice instead of rice pudding. Just telling hehehe 🙂

How Many Cooks Can Spoil The Broth – BTS

Published

on

We’ve been nominated for a Webby Award (basically the Oscars of the Internet 🥹)… for this video!

So here’s a little BTS from How Many Cooks Can Spoil The Broth.

Yes… Mike and Baz really did drive around London in a Microlino.
Yes… they did look slightly ridiculous 😂

But this video is so much more than that. It’s a celebration of the London food scene, and the incredible chefs who make it what it is.

If you love what we do, your vote would mean everything! It takes 10 seconds – thank you! 💛
