‘Why I abducted my son and moved to India’ Victoria Derbyshire

Published

on

A British child is abducted and taken abroad by a parent, on average, every day. Figures show numbers have increased dramatically – last year the UK Foreign Office dealt with nearly 500 – double the figure in 2005. Cases can take years to resolve especially when children are taken to countries with no agreement to return them home. BBC Asian Network and Victoria Derbyshire reporter Divya Talwar has met a woman who did the abducting, and those left behind. Produced by Catrin Nye

Why did he have so much more custody of the daughter? He needs to share custody FAIRLY! He thought it was ok to have his daughter full time and her to barely see her mom? SHARE custody!!

8:03 state the obvious why don’t you. Of course the looser is the child. When truly abducted, but also when detained.

Imagine you go to a foreign country and you marry and have a child. Perhaps your spouse promised to move to your country one day but then refuses. The marriage falls apart. Imagine you now have no family or friends or ANYTHING and the spouse does, hanging that over you. Making you feel like crap. You want to be with your family and raise your child amongst your culture their culture..but you feel stuck. The west always views it as "their" children who are abducted but when it's the other way around the parent who left is a "hero".

These comments are ridiculous. He had legal custody of the child. Taking the child out of the country without permission and to no return is abduction! If this was a father abducting the child then you would be appalled? Ridiculous. It is different if you are escaping abuse but just to cut the other parent out is disgusting and cruel!

In india if a mother feels unsafe she will take her children with her .. it's not abduction lol ..
It's her right .. it's what any Indian women would do ..
But considering UK law to which she's a foreigner I think India should step in and explain her point of view ..
She is in no way a bad person ..

I can’t even imagine how hard it would be to have your child abducted and not knowing where they are, I feel so bad for this father, you can tell how desperately he wanted his child back!!

Mother should be given child custody in the most cases. In the eyes of Indian she is not abductee as she is living in India only Indian laws applicable.

I really do not understand the new age definitions such as " marital rape". Abduction by own parents …come on it's a particualr issue which shud not be given terms like these.how can parents abduct their own children.wht does it really mean..

  20. @tessa9570

    January 14, 2024 at 7:32 am

This is horrible and so sad! If the child was given custody to the father, then obviously the mother did something to lose her daughter! This is so unfair to these children! I understand fleeing if u and ur child are in danger! But because u lost custody, is wrong and these parents should be arrested for doing this!

  21. @wilsonroo16

    January 14, 2024 at 7:32 am

I wish they had asked her why? Was he a violent father….a bad father….I get if your relationship fails…but if he is not a bad father then why penalize him and the child?

Why did the father get custody.????

  23. @MultiBee79

    January 14, 2024 at 7:32 am

I don't understand why a mother is abducting her own child from father. I know it's difficult to live with a man who loses interest in his woman but abducting child and trying to cause pain to her husband or man is not the way. I think this documentary needs more story from both sides. The family set up of most Pakistani is not the same as India. In India a woman's right to keep her child with her is stronger and nobody can change that. Unless father is playing a big role in providing money and is against the child's mother. It could be the same case here with men.

But no matter what, mothers have the tendency to always punish their men using their children. It is an emotional torture that most women use to punish their men. The same happens in India too. Incidents are the same whether east or west, modern or not with similar motivations. But the law and corruption plays big role in who suffers the most.

Got pregnant by accident by her husband ????
Now repeat that to yourself loud few times and tell me how stupid that statement sounds.

And taking your own child out is called abduction ? Anything to make a sensationalized eadlines for click bait.

i have a family member who actually lied against her husband and ran away with the kids . The poor man loved his kid and received abuse from his wife . alot of comments keep saying the men are the abuser .. i am a female my self and let me tell you female ain't innocent .

  26. @90ruvi

    January 14, 2024 at 7:32 am

This is NO abduction poor mothers. Mothers gave birth to that child it's hers 9x more than it's his. Just because father is British doesn't mean mother should be a criminal. Children need their mothers up to at least age 9 just because she didn't win custody maybe coz she has different language or couldn't afford expensive lawyers to fight her case does not make fathers right unless of course the parents has a history of violence or mistreatment of children. Also British Asian men are not the nicest people on planet earth they make life very difficult for wife and ask for far too much and I know what it's like ignored in family gatherings or opinions blanked or child benefits snatched from women it is happening left right and centre But no one has the will to complain to authorities about relatives being used

My brother JT you sound bitter some reason? Do hv sisters, daughters n wat if one of them went trough marriage lies were told n later their husbands abuse them, would your comment be the same?NO… think wat most of the women go through daily with physical, mental torture, verbal abuse etc and obviously rape which illigAl if the wife does not want sex… what you do? Roll your sleeves n her front door n say, right tell me where is so so husband of yours! Plz everyone think tank and want good for others as you woke for other

Thank you caro perod. My exact sentiments! There is always 2 sides to a coin! I’m not going into mine and many more would lv it behind too. These men do treat the women as if thy are just there to accommodate theirs needs n as long as thy are met… it mks no difference if the woman’s n the child/ children needs are met! Believe me sometimes out of shame and embarrassment and the well-being of the child so thy safe thy the women don’t spk out so the child/ children can hv as normal life like other children! Mental health issues hv risen amongst young ones cus thy to kp silent. These 3 mothers hv had to hv a valaid reason to come out of the marriage! Thy wouldn’t hv gone bk to their countries for the fun of it! One wouldn’t hv admitted to be filmed if she had anything to hide! My advice , plz parents if your daughter/ son likes someone let them marry them instead of ruining another woman’s n the children to come’s lives! I hope the lady in India wins the custody of her son. He seems happy with his mother! Why has he got cameras round his house? Men n I’m talking about good men suffer but good men very few to come by but seeing and analysiing these men, it’s more thn meets the eyes!

When a parent has custody of the child and the parent just vanishes with the child this is call PARENTAL KIDNAPPING (Hague Convention)i that being said it's considered abduction.Pakistan is not a signatory of the Hague Convention then he is screwed.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.

Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
