Really fascinating. I want to try ruby chocolate if it's getting less expensive.

Someone gave me a Tony's bar as a gift for plant sitting. It was really good, I think a dark chocolate with salted almond. I generally don't like salted chocolate.

If it's just chocolate, I feel like dark chocolate IS automatically better than milk chocolate.

I don't think I believe that stuff from Tony's. Call me a pessimist, but how does just working with them change how they do business? Unless they actually go there and do the work to change them, it just sounds like corporate lip service to me. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. But in the last 3 years I've learned not to trust companies at all.

The entire time the guys were talking about Aldi I could've sworn they were saying 'Audi', and I was like 'yeah, why not have a car manufacturer make pink eggs, I've seen weirder things'.
Glad Ben explained what they were actually saying.

Watching this year old video and this is the first I’ve heard of ruby chocolate. First thing that comes to mind is what would a ruby snickers taste like?

The isssue with chocolate is that the majority is sourced and manufactured by a Belgium company called callebaut.

Some of the best chocolate creations I have had, have come from this company in Newcastle 😍 thechocolatesmiths their Bizarre chocolate range is amazing x

    Nice catch, Ebbers! ^.^

  21. @sdewey4152

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

I agree with Ebbers, ruby chocolate is like a white chocolate with a slight hint of raspberry. A ruby kitkat was I think the first time I tried it.

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

Aldi is the shit, I'm excited to live closer to one when I move! I want more Aldi and Lidl in the USA, they're pretty awesome!

  23. @marwaistanbuli9814

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

The fact that they talk about serious topics looking like a carrot and a chicken is beyond me 😂 love these guys

  24. @JohnDavisSD

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

I would expect a rounded egg to be stronger than geometric when dropping, because a rounded arch is stronger than a segmented arch

  25. @momothebug

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

we're all trying really hard to ignore the connotations of an eggplant that stemmed from the eggplant emoji, arent we?

  26. @izzy6129

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

Thank you so much for pointing out that chocolate quality isn't strictly about cocoa percentage!
As someone who works in chocolate, this misconception really winds me up

  27. @putrijoyceirawati2638

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

Ironic that the vegan chocolate eggplant isn't environmentally friendly with it's plastic cover.

  28. @cliostronk2667

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

The origin story of Tony's Chocolonely is amazing. Dutch journalist Teun van de Keuken tried to get himself arrested for eating chocolate. He argued that he knew that the cocoa beans had been harvested by children who were forced to work and were not able to go to school. Therefore he was
an accessory to the crime of employing child slaves. The Dutch prosecutor refused to indict him, so he went to court to ask a judge to force the prosecutor to charge. The judge also refused. Then he decided to start his own company. Originally he wanted to use the name of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and asked the heirs of Roald Dahl if they were willing to fight this fight with him, as he believed this was something that Charlie would care about. But they declined, probably because they feared that this was more a journalist asking for cheap publicity than an actual attempt to ban slavery in the production of cocoa. Van de Keuken also asked Oprah Winfrey to help him, but she also declined. So then he named the company after himself (Teun is a Dutch version of Anthony) and just started. And even though his chocolate was more expensive than other brands, his documentary had enough of an impact that people were willing to pay the extra price and it became a massive commercial succes in the Netherlands.

I find it amusing to see how serious these guys are, while at the same time wearing goofy costumes.

I’m really hoping they’ll do another Easter egg vid this year!

STOP. CHEWING. THE. CHOCOLATE! Let it melt on your tongue for the best flavor! Let it coat your tongue!

  34. @patmccoy8758

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

I know that Aldi is also in the USA. I wonder how many of these chocolates would be imported here and how much they would cost in US Dollars?

  35. @jryddle

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

How is the Ruby Chocolate egg free of plastic but still has a clear plastic front?

  36. @vsriotact

    January 12, 2024 at 9:20 pm

A bit pedantic but can aldi call the package plastic free when it has a plastic viewing window?
