As an Israeli who has previosly written about the current situation, I feel like people are missing facts and context before they write opinions. Here we go:
When the British left Israel, the UN voted on deviding the country to Israel and Palestine. Of course Palestinians wanted all of it, and immediately declared war on Israel ( in alliance with other Arab countries) trying to conquer the whole country. They failed. Since then Arabs have started many wars against Israel, including some which involved every country surrounding Israel attacking it. Throughout those wars Palestine has lost almost all of its land to Israel.
Skip ahead to 2005. Being the only real democracy in the Middle East, Israel votes in favor of leaving Gaza and evacuating all Israelis. That was in exchange for a peace treaty, that Palestinians never actually signed. At this point, Israel is willing to give up land in exchange for peace, knowing that if the peace fails Gaza might become an attack source. Israel leaves behind green houses and factories, in order for Palestinians to build a strong settlement in Gaza. Palestinians immediately destroy everything Israel left behind, despite their weak and poor community. Gaza also immediately elects Hamas as the authorities in the area.
Skip ahead to today. After constant rocket firing, the kidnapping and killing of 3 Israeli teens 'breaks the camels back' and Israel starts to attack Gaza. Many civilian casualties are reported. That is happening although at almost every attack target Israel is performing something, that from a military standpoint is considered incredibly dumb, and warning, sometimes days ahead, of the attack. Most civilian casualties happen because of the use of human shields and civilians not evacuating places used by Hamas as shelters. And as sick as this sounds, I believe that If a place is known to be a bomb/ terrorist shelter that will eventually threaten your country's citizens lives, and you do as much as you can warning civilians, it is acceptable to bomb places without it being considered war crimes. Yes, even hospitals and schools.
And to finish this off, assuming many of the readers of this are Americans, or might support the american anti- Israel view claiming Israel is to violent and should work harder to minimize civilian casualties, that opinion is coming from a country that 69 years ago today dropped 2 atomic bombs on residential cities in Japan.
I hope that those who were patient enough to read through this learned something today about middle eastern history and current events.

I see Israel has "defended themselves" against enough innocent civilians that even the spineless idiots in Washington finally decided to take stern action and waggle their fingers at them disappointingly.

Which means that, as usual, the Palestinians will not have justice over this latest atrocity. This shames me as an American.

This is what the Palests want. This is the reason they elect  Hamas to power. This is what they deserved.

To say Israel is not targeting innocent people is absurd….For a state to claim to have the most sophisticated army and weapons, and still manages to kill 85-90% innocent Children, Woman and elderly does not show Israel is indeliberately targeting innocent……….The truth is that Israel is targeting Innocent in order to make the Palestinians bow down to their demand and to put pressure on the Palestinan leadership!

So Hamas wants peace?  Great!!   All they have to do is live quietly and stop shooting rockets into Israel.  Start living like humans instead of demons.

wanna  guarantee that it won't happen again? Stop Hamas. That'd bring peace to the Palestinians, and Israelis. Everyone, basically.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
