We need more drs ,nurses and dentists not more phone lines. This won't solve the problem of seeing a Dr WHEN we need to.

Why don’t they stop trying to increase their client base by constantly attempting to convince perfectly healthy people how unwell they are ?

Some GPs are using receptionists to turn people away from booking appointments by saying stupid things like they don’t need their inhaler anymore! But why the trouble when you can have the overwhelmed pharmacist to do their triage for them!

It's awkward trying to book an appointment at 8am when you're at work.

And then they insist you can only book one or two days ahead.

Hahahahahahahaha. 12 years, and just like that, just before an election and after a devastating local election they come up with this.
Lets not worry about systemic anti white racism, the rewritten history, the mase up psuedo sciences and social experiments. Police forces out of control yet unable to actually even find murderers. Lets not worry about the massive debt burden through unlawful aliens entering this country and the foreign drug cartels fueling a deadly drug war and postcode civil war.
Fuck i hate sunak and starmer. I fucking hate them.

Just throwing more money at bad money.. the NHS is so inefficient. So much money wasted, maybe there's conflict of interest.. but it needs a full financial audit , independently.. but as most parts of the NHS , it's privatised, and they're there to make money

  20. @zombinosh

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

I've had an ongoing minor ailment for years but it would be pointless to try to get on the list for the day as the appointments are considered for urgent care only. When I called to get an appointment or consultation for my son, the list had been filled by 9.10am.

  21. @user-ig5is8dl8q

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

how come it's about the patient. Then he goes on about the receptionist having it bad. Then do something to better it mate.

  22. @GODthegoodone

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

Make doctors be in work for 8 hours and dont pay them if they dont see patients.

  23. @ashigaru7617

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

What bull the receptionist at our local surgery are a nightmare. And if they start making choices rather than doctors what happens when they miss inform or deem something not worthy because they haven't seen that in their family! Is that the answer receptionists are the new doctors? guess it's cheaper. It takes an hour on average to get through in the morning for us how is anyone who works expected to sit on hold for an hour from 8am-9am feels like they just want us to die off.

  24. @mskiran36

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

GP receptionists can also be some of the rudest people and on a power trip. Gave us a difficult time when we wanted an app for our mother when she was diagnosed with cancer.

  25. @kevinwilliams1602

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

All GP surgeries should have been made open 24/7 decades ago, and do away with receptionists, their only purpose is to prevent us from seeing one of the quacks

Thanks for the opportunity you've given the public to contribute.
Personally, I think, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE IS THE BEST OPTION.
Machine issues TICKET with numbers serially, and the client wait in turn to see the doctor.
This is done in All good NHS HOSPITALS for Blood Test. You sit down and lister to your number and room number.
Bear in mind some are not Computer literate and might not have one at home.
Best option is the ticket system.
    Thank you.

You're lucky, 0830 at my surgery, and we have an online appointment system that does not work. When you ring up it's a pre-recorded message, asking if your appointment is really necessary, and then goes on for five minutes telling you how to check if you really are ill. Then you will be lucky to get an answer after all that when it comes up saying we are busy please ring back later and cuts you off. Get the basics done first.

It took me an hour to book appointment to see a GP and I was glad I got appointment but I hadn’t seen a GP, it was a clinician. When Springhead Medical Center at Hotham road was still open it’s easy to book for appointment and see a doctor. But since in partnership with modality it gone downhill. Never seen a GP at all. It’s always a clinician. How could you compare a clinician to a GP?

  39. @msee383

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

It’s not getting value for money. It’s because people are not seen for so long that they have further issues to mention.

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

Wonderful????????????????? So who answers the emails? Who deals with the emails? How do the aged who haven’t got mobiles/email get help? Stupid government people who are all using private health.

  41. @Galerak1

    January 10, 2024 at 8:16 am

The government pledging £240m to end the '8am scramble' is just politician language for "We're going to pay one of our buddies who works in telecommunications £240m to lockout every GP telephone number until 9am".
And as for receptionists 'triaging' patients, they've been doing that for years.

  42. @POISONSHANK1

    Bad idea.

  43. @donnamaciver2093

Well it my practice, GPS are still hiding behind desks and phones, it takes either a morning or an afternoon to even get through to reception staff, it's just not good enough enough, before covid I saw my GP once a month for my complex illnesses, since covid face to face I've seen one once, it's just not right it doesn't work

A.I. facial recognition tool to detect adult migrants posing as children

Published

on

By

An AI facial recognition tool that aims to detect adult migrants posing as children will be deployed at the UK’s borders next year.

The software will estimate a person’s age by analysing photographs of them taken at the border.

The Home Office says the technology will make it easier to identify adult migrants “attempting to game the system”, after initial testing indicated “promising performance and accuracy”.

But Human Rights Watch urged the government to scrap the scheme, describing it as “unproven technology” that will undermine the protections vulnerable children are entitled to.
