It seems pretty much a certainty that Andy Burnham will be the next British prime minister. Exactly when it happens depends on a few factors. We outline some of the reasons an early general election is likely.

Completely shameful for Westminster to force Ulster to legalize infanticide and sodomy, even the Micks took 50 more years than the English to do so.

This is horrific. The UK is enforcing abortion in Northern Ireland. Abortion is the murder of a baby. Should NEVER be done.
Murdering a child is NOT a right.
People of northern ireland, you should kick the UK forces out.

So sad to see laws in Northern Ireland being passed by England, rather than power sharing. These laws have two very strong opposing sides. They should be left for the Northern Irish people to vote, rather than parties yell at each other over the troubles.

There was a time up here when gerrymandering was perfectly within the law. It helped fuel the fires and laid the foundations for 40 years of sectarian strife. Bloody Sunday would not have happened had Nationalists been granted civil rights when they asked for them. Just saying.

I was in Belfast on the day this happened, and I was surprised to see a Sinn Fein poster in favour of same sex marriage. I'm from northern ireland, but I always assumed sinn fein was against it. But then again, I suppose they will do anything as long as it hurts the DUP, and it's interests.

Here's a easy answer, Liberate Northern Ireland from UK and let Ireland welcome it's Northeastern Irish region. Ireland has women's rights and Most of LGBTQI+ RIGHTs with few exceptions. NI returning to Ireland would bypass nonsense issues UK imported in NI.

Labour finding ways to give their Sinn Fein/IRA mates what they want outwith the normal democratic process once again, disgraceful. Why would SF/IRA ever agree to go back into government when they can get whatever they want by continuing their boycott. These amendments are dangerous interference in matters devolved to Northern Ireland and will be just another nail in the coffin of the Good Friday Agreement.
@TheDuvee6
January 8, 2024 at 3:48 pm
Arlene Foster is very happy about this. A large portion of Sinn Fein support comes from social liberals who want abortion and same-sex marriage. This has now happened without any need for DUP to soften their social conservative position. There was nothing they could do about it. Therefore, Foster is not to blame, meanwhile SF no longer have a key policy proposal.
@Ptaku93

This is terrible news. More people will be killed in the name of law even when local population is against it. Northern Ireland was far ahead in protecting the most vulnerable, now UK dragged it to its pit

I am sure this is going to be very popular with the DUP. Two of the things they have been very much against and the Tories have been very reticent about putting up as it will piss them off.
That might make the DUP less happy about following a Tory Brexit policy.
