Boris Johnson is all about infrastructure, trade agreements and airports.
Rather than a free trade deal with the declining EU economy, he'll jump for the similarly sized but growing ASEAN economy, leapfrogging the EU ASEAN deal. The UK already has a liberalized or freer trade deals with Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and others, this will mostly be a merger of the FTA. This will also have the benefit of bringing in more flights. He will probably add India and Pakistan, as India is industralizing fast, and -again, is UK's to lose.

Johnson will probably set in motion, the independence of Australia and New Zealand, with the latter moving faster. Without independence from the crown, Australia's reliance on China will make Australia a new China. And Australia needs the autonomy at leaast, to engage Asia, the Americas and Africa as it tries to diversify.

UK will also need to deal with China in HK first, and proving its insincerity to China that it has no old world aspirations to entrap China in opium like previous. Similarly, UK will be doing Hong Kongers a huge favor by lifting the burden of Swire, which was never HK's to bear or solve, off their shoulders. HK today is as much as UK's fault as it is China's.

Next, because it's a more pressing problem for EU too, Johnson needs to work with the EU and negotiate with Londoners as it redraws the flight paths over UK. No expansion of any London airport is going to happen unless flight paths are redrawn. This will allow him to expand LGW, LHR and STN. Close LCY. In any case, a lot of Airbus new planes will be able to arrive in Heathrow past curfew, and the people can't do shit about it.

PLAN B.. KILL EACH OTHER WITH BLACK MARKET STUFF.
FOR GOD SAKE, CAN THESE ASSHOLE POLITICIANS CAN'T AGREE ON ANYTHING?

  9. @dimsoneill

    January 8, 2024 at 7:53 pm

What a mess , all because there are too many “Johnny foreigners” and some misconceptions of losing UK sovereignty to the EU. Would be very interesting to have a 2nd referendum now people actually know what is involved.

  10. @undogmatisch5873

    January 8, 2024 at 7:53 pm

    So, Johnsons plan:
    a) is not even a plan at all, but a mere memorandum,
    b) not applicable at all, due to several issues (lacking preconditions, veto-right of all other WTO members,
    lacking agreement of the EU27)
    c) will hurt everyone, especially the UK. Plus it would simply destroy the rest of the UK's reputation, which might be not that good for a country without any significant trade agreements.

But hey, it's the UK's decision, and it comes with consequences.

  11. @silentwilly2983

    January 8, 2024 at 7:53 pm

I think the real issue is that EU and UK are playing a game of chicken. With May and parliament clearly insisting on a deal the EU can afford to be tough with a good chance the UK will eventually cave. Boris, with putting no deal firmly on the table, shifts the negotiation power a little back to the UK. Whether it's enough remains to be seen as there is still plenty of encouragement from UK parliament for the EU to hold its position and with the Irish border issue the EU has a good reason to do so too. It may very well be that no-one caves and the game of chicken is played till plan C is 'implemented'.

But as EU officials have repeatedly expressed we will remain neighbors and will remain in dialog. So, after a no deal exit they will still talk and deals will be made. (I think there have even been officials telling that emergency deals for in case of a no deal were already negotiated). Those emergency deals might be most of the May deal and might be an article 24 arrangement. After all, it's better to agree on 80% and leave 20% open ended instead of leaving everything open ended. With a lot already pre-discussed, deals to soften the no deal exit might come in only hours after the no deal is triggered by the clock.

Boris Brexit plan explained: Boris plan is First May´s plan A that is May´s plan B if plan A goes wrong but we all know May´s plan B is May´s plan A – so Boris believe there is no risk even if plan A and plan B goes wrong then we have the No-deal plan – this is a Brexit with NO Deal. A No-Deal Brexit is the Brexit, a Deal-Brexit is not a Brexit but a disaster. SAme situation with Trumps USA. Any deal is slavery – so the Boris-US Trump deal!

  13. @user-ov5nd1fb7s

    January 8, 2024 at 7:53 pm

You don't need to do anything for a no deal.
Exactly the opposite, you need to not do anything.

  20. @Ocrilat

    January 8, 2024 at 7:53 pm

Plan A – Maybe the problem will magically go away
Plan B – Maybe the EU will agree to throw Ireland under the bus after demonstrating they won't throw Ireland under the bus
Plan C – Maybe we can commit fraud, and hold back the money we owe the EU to blackmail them

Those are great plans. Gee, I hope the problem magically goes away!

I think looking at the economic impact is just a wrong strategy, as we all know that the whole economic system is one of the biggest scams perpetrated against the citizens. Currency can’t be treated as a real asset, an agreed set of rules and regulations.
Why Britain can’t prosper unless is bounded to the EU? In the past Britain was prosperous an dynamic, don’t you have faith in your own strength?
