I’m watching old videos, so this is now 9 months old, but after Mike said that it will be used in the studio, I don’t think I have seen it being used in any new videos, unless I’ve missed seeing it!

I've just fell in love with an oven.

Addendum: this could sit in the same place as your oven in the kitchen on a shelf under the hob.

I've been using it for 2 years, and I do everything with. Add a pizza steel and I make good pizza. Air fryer actually works well, and reheats fried chicken almost to fresh standards. The convection oven also tends to cook food faster. It does take practice to use though.

Got this for a month now, and I absolutely love it when it don’t have connection issue, mine can’t maintain connection if I have long cook. I’m playing with it everyday basically now

Reheating food is probably my most used function, especially reheating non crispy food (reheat everything to 140F and everything feels like 90% newly cooked from kitchen especially protein)

Then steaks once a week basically, I play with 135-140F slow method (1H max for me, longer might dry the steak) not sous vide express method (+5-15F from target probe), and the fat just renders softly and melts in mouth.

And yeah the fish texture with apo is just different, it’s soooooooooo soft, kinda hard to crisp the skin because it will crumble into pieces when moving to the pan for crisping if you want. If just Asian steam fish with apo. But if you want crumbly fish for miso soup, this is perfect.

Haven’t tried roast chicken yet which a lot people recommended, but I’m already having lots of fun with this oven so far in just one month so far🎉

What's interesting. Professional proofing cabinets do use quite a bit of steam during the proofing process. So I think it might be better going for lower temperature (30 degrees), with steam! I have an oven you can proof in and it also requires steam. If you don't use the steam the dough dries on the outside and you don't get a good rise.

So, I ended up buying one of these. The main reason was because my apartments oven is trash and I like cooking. I have literally avoided recipes that require baking for nearly 10 years living in apartments. Now I bake A LOT. As an oven, it is a good oven. I would not recommend buying one though. The software is garbage. The app constantly crashes and is not very responsive. Unfortunately, you need the app to do certain things, like set the broil and convection on at the same time, or even something as basic as turning its internal light on. The hardware though, amazing. If I could do everything from the control panel I would give it 10/10. Since you have to use the app to unlock all its features, I give it a 3/10. If the app was perfect, I would probably still only give it an 8/10. Not being able to turn its internal light on via a button physically on it, really pisses me off. Now that I have it and am over the price shock, I am happy with it, but like I said, I would not recommend anyone else buy one.

Steaming with a tray is not incorrect, but it's not ideal for dumplings. Asian Bamboo steamers are ideal because they allow steam to permeate more evenly with any excess not condensing and dripping down onto the food. Steam ovens have many advantages, but they do take longer to produce a product that's sometimes superior. I use mine for proteins, breads, cakes etc and ignore the inefficiency aspect (more time, energy, technique) The Sharp Helsio is relatively automatic, but it's size limits what it can be used for. It's also quite an expense, which I overcame by buying it used. That being said, old school techniques which require more skill but less tech has it's allure, a classic charm about it.

When sousvide machines can help notmala to cook perfect souvide at home, and chefs use them too. But for a multifuctional oven it is great to have that function as a bonus.

I do a whole spatchcock chicken, cooking it at 150 for 2 hours, then pull the chicken out, brush it with duck fat and throw it back when the oven is ramped up to 450 for a few minutes. It's restaurant quality chicken (I do start with a really good free range chicken if possible).
This oven heats up quickly, it'll do oven baked french fries in 8 minutes. I haven't used my big old Viking oven in over a year.
It's big enough to hold a dutch oven, but only a bit bigger than the toaster oven it replaced.
And bread cooked with the steam on is excellent with a really nice crust.
It's one of those things I'd re-order tonight, if it died.
it is a bit hard to clean, being from Alabama, I don't fret over that.
It may be one of those rare appliances that you can give your wife for your anniversary and not die in your sleep.

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

you should have used a steam tray not a baking tray for the dumplings and for the salmon. it would not have caramelized then.

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

I am not sure why they call this oven expensive ? compare to what? Any med range oven is more expensive. I paid around 500 pound /( 1000$ AUD ) for this precision oven. It is a great option e.g if u rent and the oven in the kitchen is shit.

  18. @williamzastawnik6579

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

In my opinion the best test for that oven would be homemade pizza

Experimentation is the key. I have experimented with the Anova Precision Cooker for the last 2 years. . . .looking to add this to my anova collection

  20. @kedaousadama

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

This would be great in Japanese kitchens that don’t have ovens typically. Or other units that don’t have ovens. It’s certainly waaaayyyyyy too big for dorms or other cramped units, but for everyone else, a really cool piece of tech! Price is stupidly high tho, but you do get what you pay for.

I am just converting my catamaran from gas to full electric galley and was looking for a combi counter top oven. Looks like this is a great solution as its also isolated well and replaces a lot of other appliances which is important as you don't have much space. I am doing a world circum and that combined with a 3 burner induction stove would be all i need for the galley. What do you think? I had now for 7 years the Panasonic NN595 microwave/connvection/ steamer counter top oven which was 700Euro and i loved it…well got hit by a 8m rogue wave and the Panasonic ended up flying down the stairs and broke😢 so i think think the innova would be a good replacement. I love to do low temp meat cooking and most counter top ones start at 110C but i need 70 till 80C and this goes as low as you want…

I've heard you guys talk about for what conditions this tool is good and I wanted to share why I'm interested in buying it. We're living in an apartment with older kitchen appliances so preferably I would replace oven and microwave and buy an airfryer but since I'm renting I don't want to have that commitment. I'm thinking actually getting this oven and replacing my oven/microwave with this and have more space in my kitchen. I'm eating mostly vegan/vegetarian so cooking meat in the oven not much of an importance for me but steaming vegetables in it and having larger space left on my electric hob for more pan cooking is a great benefit for me.

Can you cook a turkey in this oven ❓❓🤞🤞👍👍

I absolutely love mine. My husband is baking croissants and cookies every Saturday. I do bread every now and then but love it for sous vide. I absolutely love that we can create recipes and start them from our phone without having to type a bunch of stuff in on the handle.

  27. @EmoEmu

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

The thing I'd prefer to know about this oven is how it would do on a 24-hour sous vide of a chuck eye steak.

  28. @EmoEmu

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

Many of these "smart thermometers" will have a line indicating how far you need to insert it into the meat. This one doesn't have an indicator?

Ben being corrected by Kush is amazing. I know technically Ben was also right but the sass behind Kush's correction is the best.

  32. @Nicolas-cl1gq

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

Being able to cook sous vide without cancer risk of pastic is good

  33. @nerodia

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

I'd be 100% on that in a small kitchen that didn't have a built in oven. But it's just big and expensive, if I have a built in oven there are a few more useful things for the counter space (stand mixer, kettle, instant pot, decent but inexpensive convection toaster oven).
The one multipurpose mini oven that's really worth it even if you have a built-in oven is a convection toaster oven. Convection lets it act as an air fryer, plus it can toast and do other small space and energy saving countertop oven things.
That precision oven is pretty amazing though, and even at its high price it's a good option for spaces without a built in oven. If you already have an oven it doesn't do enough to justify the cost, but if you don't have an oven and need something bigger than the usual toaster oven size it's a good product for you.

  34. @laurarastelli7231

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

I have a countertop oven, not as many functions and much less expensive We use it almost every day as it is less electricity used

  35. @sw01ller

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

hang on, the steam comparison wasn't fair. the basket was allowed to come to temp slowly adding moisture…. the anova dumplings were added at high temp shocking them. sort it.

  36. @fatherwilliam7256

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

I'd buy one if it was also a microwave. Replacing my microwave is the only way I could fit it in my kitchen.

  37. @adamkencki

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

just turn the bulb in the oven on (only works with standart bulbs that make heat as well as light) for proofing. it will soon get to around 25

  38. @adamkencki

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

cloud eggs in the oven: mmmm delicious baked plastic

  39. @Getpojke

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

Re-watching this seven months later. Don't think I've seen them using it in a video since!? Wonder if it's gone to a "good home" – IE Barry took it to make cloud eggs at home, or if Kush & the food team use it in the back kitchen.

  40. @MsJBurrell

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

This would be great for resting a brisket

  41. @tinanguyen7147

    January 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm

Just got mine last week and haven't used it yet, was thinking of making a basic cake in it, just not sure which recipe i should go for.
    Love your vids btw 🙂
