Can Taiwan’s microchips act as a ‘silicon shield’ against a Chinese invasion? – BBC Newsnight

Published

Taiwan dominates global production of the which are within almost every technological device we use.

A disruption to these supply chains would cause incredible damage to China and the world, a fact which protects the island nation to some degree from a military attack.

’s Diplomatic Editor Mark Urban speaks to people in the industry as well as Foreign Minister about whether the prospect of an ever-closer confrontation with China is inevitable.

This film was produced by Caitlin Hanrahan and camera journalist Jack Garland.

Past and current experiences have clearly shown that United States of America can't be relied upon in case of an invasion. To them (US), their interest is what matters. Taiwan must never rely on the US for protection.

These fellow globalists only have solutions for their own womb, and the justice they propose to bring to humanity are nothing more than cloths used in their women's menstruation. Every hovernante can only bring peace to the people, judge the afflicted and save the children of the needy, and break the oppressor, when he seeks to have his north in the laws of God, the rest is just evil and hypocrisy. Only God the creator works wonders, and that is why we should always bless his name and wish him to fill the whole earth with his glory. There is no distinction for Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, Brazilian or Argentinian, God loves us all and wants us at his table….

What about UN Resolution 2758 that says Taiwan belongs to one China i.e. the one governed by Beijing? Taiwan cannot be considered an independent state, this is an internal conflict within China that US or UK shouldn't meddle in, it's like if China started supplying weapons and sanctions to Scotland to separate itself from the UK.

China will develop their own microchips if successful they rely less on taiwan it will turn the tables.

They have developed their own nuclear capability. So it’s not rocket science that they won’t be able to develop their own micro chips.

I would say they already are. And now because of the aggressiveness of China, Taiwan is bolstering its defences under the supervision of America. We just saw what Ukraine managed to do with a few boat drones. If I were Taiwan, that would be my number one investment. Cheep drones lots of them surrounding the island. China can't invade if it can't land. And if it blockades, these drones would soon put a stop to that. I would argue now Taiwan will forever be untouchable Ukraine has shown the way.

I learn from history, America is no good, anywhere they touch it turns to pure chaos.

Taiwan’s gonna have to get their politics on. Self rely, dangle China, lead them on and strike a peace deal.

But getting Nancy Pelosi’s to come around, not a great idea, US is bad news.

When these Communists invade another country near them the loads of Himars can use these microchips to hit every landing craft with one shot blowing each one to smithereens with it's full complement of soldiers. Thus the microchips just taken from Red Chinese production. Commies aren't as good as free people producing innovative products.

Love and only love is above the law because in fact it fulfills all the law, and what else is right if it has to fulfill. NO to abortion, NO to corruption, No to pedophilia, No to leftism, No to theft, No to everything that is against the will of God. He's not perfect, but he can reach the stature of Christ if he chooses to, but it's been a long time since we've seen so much virtue and courage in one person. Congratulations Mr. President Jair Messias Bolsonaro. Vote 22……

Cyber Attack: Ransomware causing chaos globally – BBC News

Published

on

Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Is this AI’s moment of truth? | BBC News

Published

on

A year ago, artificial intelligence was being sold as something close to science fiction — a technology that could transform society, cure disease, even reshape the global economy.

Today, the tone is changing. The companies leading the revolution are racing to the stock market — chasing billions in investment — while quietly confronting a much harder reality: AI is expensive, unpredictable, and far from profitable.

At the same time, some of the very people building this technology are warning we may be going too fast — even calling for a global pause.
And beyond Silicon Valley, a different story is emerging: growing public anxiety, political backlash, and the rise of what some are calling anti-AI populism.

So is AI entering its most pivotal moment yet — caught between financial pressure, technological risk, and political resistance?

AI Decoded Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Financial Times AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, Thematic Strategist at Deutsche Bank Research Adrian Cox and Richard Coffin, Host of popular investing podcast ‘ The Plain Bagel’.
