Lockerbie “bomb maker” is in United States custody – BBC News

Published

on

A Libyan man accused of making the bomb which destroyed Pan Am flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie in 1998 is in United States custody.

The US announced charges against Abu Agila Masud two years ago, alleging that he played a key role in the bombing on 21 December, 1988.

The blast on board the Boeing 747 left 270 people dead. It is the deadliest terrorist attack to have taken place on British soil.

All 259 passengers and crew on board the jumbo jet bound to New York from London died while another 11 people were killed on the ground in Lockerbie when wreckage destroyed their homes.

Mishal Husain presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Sarah Smith in Washington and Alexandra Mackenzie in Lockerbie.

Smoke and mirrors. The Libyan government was not involved in Lockerbie.

It took so long, because it was a lone Frontline journalist who found out this guy's alleged involvement.

My god mother was on the flight. It was a horrible time back then and was young not understanding the magnitude as to what had happened. I never got over the loss of her but kind of forgot about the incident kind of blocked it out. I’m so thankful of her and was always in awe with her. My god mother is the one that gave me my unique name with a powerful meaning behind it due to her travels abroad. I really do miss her and wished she was here living and breathing. RIP to all of the other families that lost a loved one in the tragic accident. Gone but never forgotten.🙏🏽😪😪

I wouldn’t leave it to the Scot’s to deal with him. Look at how Salmond allowed Al Magrahi out with a supposed 3 months to live & he lived for almost 2 years – he only served 8 & 1/2 years. Absolute soft touch.

This whole investigation was to get money. US ( FBI, CIA) totally controlled the investigation. Just like 911, now victims families in UK/Scotland want a new investigation. Only stupid families in US trusting what their corrupt govt says. There were no evidence what so ever. US paid $2M to the tailor for his testimony to say he saw thew man for less than 3 mins some 5yras ago !!. It is ILLEGAL to pay large sums of money to a witness. He did not want to testify because he knew he was lying. But CIA threatened him. FBI said they found "LRC" on a printed circuit board which used to trigger the bomb and that LRC traced the board to Libya. Those were the only evidence. Hell, every circuit board has these letters to say Resistor, Inductor & Capacitor. This is how pathetic FBI & US govt tried to influence Scottish judges.

It's obviously clear why he is going to be tried in the US as he wouldn't be convicted in a British or Scottish courtroom. The British relatives already know that the Libyans had nothing whatsoever to do with this bombing. They know as does the rest of the world, excluding the Americans of course, that it was Ahmed Jibril and the PFLP-GC bombed this flight as they were paid to do it by Iran. It was done in retaliation for the shooting down of Iran Air 655 by the USS Vincennes on 3rd July, 1988. The Americans are truly kidding themselves with this propaganda show trail because the rest of the outside world knows who was really responsible for this bombing.

the families of the victims were compensated with millions and the case was closed. But the United States, with its usual arrogance, does not abide by promises and contracts. What happened was a crime of kidnapping against a Libyan citizen in Libyan territory. Believe me, your end will be painful, and no one will cry over you, as this is the usual of history with traitors who do not abide by covenants.

This is what help making sense to how United 93 managed to crash into a field and turn into air, with no remains of the aircraft, nor the passengers. Just like how they said the aircraft crashing into Pentagon turned into "fluid", and how 3 towers, not 2, fell down, because of fire. But don't try google that. It's already been censored. And by the way: Lockerbie was not by Qaddafi (he just happily accepted responsibility), but Assad in Syria (but of course he was under the Russian nuclear umbrella, so it was not politically wise blaming the right man).

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.

Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
