Jerome Corbyn seems to be the first ever thorn in the flesh that the Conservative party has ever encountered as not bowing to govt. position. We will all be watching … Is this first ever strong opposition and shadow govt. in history to shaking the preceding gov. position? One thing I am certainly impressed by is that J.C. does not seem to be bowing to the status quo, quite so.

The decision to vote out was based on a better future outside the EU. If that’s no longer the case like it’s clearly been shown then the decision should be to remain and develop within the EU. The deal should represent a greater future than the current situation like it was campaigned and not a “survival if we are lucky” after “the storm”. This constant going back and forth is ridiculous it’s time for the people to decide. If the government can’t see the point in going forward with this why would the people?! The moment we were receiving anything less than the current situation this whole thing should have been called off. THE PEOPLE WANT A BETTER FUTURE BRING BACK THE GREAT IN BRITAIN!!

  20. @alsmith20000

    January 2, 2024 at 6:17 am

Based on the decision flow chart, there is an interesting thing: If MPs vote 'no' for her deal and then subsequently vote that they will not accept a no-deal the next stage is to ask the EU for an extension. If they refuse, then do we not revoke article 50 as a default action governed by the previous decisions?

Having a second referendum, now that the British people see what Brexit actually means would result in a much more representative outcome. The result from 3 years ago does not correspond with the current fears of the people. THEY WEREN'T PROPERLY INFORMED WHEN THE REFERENDUM WAS HELD.

  28. @CteCrassus

    January 2, 2024 at 6:17 am

I fail to see how asking the British people "Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?" is betraying their trust. Methinks that by refusing to ask she's betraying her lack of trust in their answer.

  31. @Etheoma

The second referendum on the specifics should be ranked choice so as not to divide the country, this way most people wont get there first choice, but the vast majority should get there second or third choice. and honestly in a deal you're never going to get exactly what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need. :p

The excuse that the results of the referendum should be respected to the point that she should accept whatever we are given is complete bullshit. We were fed 100 different narratives about what brexit would be. And maybe 0.5 of one of those narratives has actually come to pass. So yeah there people should have a say on the specific proposals. If I go to a restaurants and they say oh your meal will be the best meal ever and it will be super patriotic believe me you will be floored.

Then 1 hour latter which is much latter than they said they would be they serve you a cold sloppy mess that looks like it will give me food poisoning and get told that I can't refuse because they are respecting my choice and if I don't eat it myself I will be force feed it. Doesn't that sound like bullshit you to. People should have the ability to change there minds based on the facts and on the specifics.

This is what you get when two remainers "lead" the House: two years of disingenuous negotiations, followed by a useless call for "more time," followed by a proposal from the other side to do a Brexit in name only. Welcome to the bait and switch network.
