It surprises me why everybody gets really worked up about inflation and inflation data. Inflation has always existed, and people have been using investments to beat the inflation. The stock market return, for example, always beats inflation. I heard of someone who invested $121k last October, and has grown the portfolio by more than $400k. I need recommendations that can give me similar return.

With inflation running at a four-decade high, the Recession is now the ‘most likely outcome for the economy and I cannot imagine being a victim of circumstances. My portfolio suffered a big hit, holding it further won’t be any good. I've heard of people netting hundreds of thousands this red season. How can I ensure this?

I think we are too obsessed about the economy crashing. In the right sense, the economy never crashes. It just undergoes cycles, and almost always recovers. So I really don't care what the predictions are. I just want to grow my portfolio. I read that people are pulling in massive profits despite the downturn. Any tips on how they do it?

  8. @truxton1000

    January 2, 2024 at 5:16 am

Absolutely nonsense, many EU countries got higher inflation than UK. Actually UK inflation is on par with average EU. If you can blame one reason in UK it will be the lack of investment in energy but this goes 15 years back so nothing to do with brexit.

  9. @Colin623

    January 2, 2024 at 5:16 am

Government policies are one of the biggest factors regarding inflation under normal circumstances, very little to do with Brexit, that old chestnut is pathetic, Germany is in recession right now, is that because of Brexit ? NO, they are in the EU and the leading economy as well, yet in recession, so that expels all the nonsense about Brexit, This Tory government are useless……… being more socialist than the socialists ! Spend spend spend = higher taxes = low growth = less money in your pocket !

To combat the negative effect of inflation, it’s a good idea to diversify your portfolio across different asset classes, such as stocks, bonds, and real estate, since this can help protect your portfolio against inflation. I’ve heard testimonies of people accruing over $550k during recessions

  12. @Ammo-Hoarder

    January 2, 2024 at 5:16 am

You cannot cut your way out of recession you've got to invest your way out of recession, the Conservative party are in the dark ages on policy they've got to think again. My primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about £250k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

    January 2, 2024 at 5:16 am

Price gouging. Simple as. The government does nothing to pressure business, because they are only interested in keeping their rich mates happy. Brexit didn't help. But the government could step in….other countries have governments that cap prices for essential goods. So much for the independence of the Uk after Brexit. The consumer always ends up paying for the endless and massive failures of the imbeciles running the country.

Weak tory governments, only interested in personal wealth and power. Total disregard for the people. Typical conservatives.

This is moronic, inflation is measured differently in every country, in reality it is much higher everywhere than the figures show, and I promise you it is higher in Germany than in the UK, every German I know is unhappy with the way things are going there
