At every restaurant I have ever worked in, if you break a plate or glass like that, all the food in the vicinity has to be cleared and thrown away. You just assume there are shards in something.

from my personal experience , when there are fewer customers, the cooks do a better job, because they have more time that they can dedicate to your specific meal.
My best experience with this is when there are rain storms and i'm with a friend at a local diner/bar and we are nearly the only people there.
It is also a requirement that you treat the staff well. Not because it's polite, but because we're not fucking savages.

It’s exciting watching you guys travel. It’s not edited in that semi-braggadocious way many travel bloggers edit. It’s refreshing to watch people experience and appreciate the culture around them. It gives me FOMO in the best way possible (and I typically never have FOMO). And I’ll take a trick from your book and have started writing some great restaurants for the next time I visit London.
