NATO is a threat to peace with their constant brinkmanship with Russia. Their reckless expansionism pushed Putin into taking Crimea as a way to guarantee that their ports wouldn't be effectively taken over by a NATO-run Ukraine. We need to stop seeing the world in reductionist cold war fantasy terms and be realistic about how this non-stop expansion of NATO is an American power play and is in no way interested in peace. American governments would organise a coup in any country on the same CONTINENT as them that deigned to oppose their capitalist ideology but we're supposed to expect a power like Russia to roll over as NATO encroaches on their black sea shipping routes? Please listen to Noam Chomsky on youtube on this topic or basically any other intellectual who sees through this mainstream glorification of a threat to world peace

funny how when NATO was started they promised to never go more East than germany… now we have them trying to get ukraine to join. Try to imagine if a 'sino-soviet' pact was established and mexico or canada wanted to join. What would the reaction of the US be? Would this pact be seen as an act of aggression or would the US celebrate the sovereignty of all countries to join whatever military alliance they like?
