Oil giant ExxonMobil predicted climate change in 1970s, scientists claim – BBC News
Researchers have claimed one of the world’s largest oil companies accurately forecast how burning fossil fuels would warm the planet decades ago.
Scientists claim ExxonMobil – which has made billions from selling fossil fuels – publicly denied the link.
The oil giant denied the allegations, telling the BBC: “Those who talk about how ‘Exxon Knew’ are wrong in their conclusions.”
The study, by Harvard University and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Change, analysed data in ExxonMobil’s internal documents and found predictions made in the 1970s were often more accurate than Nasa scientists.

Cyber Attack: Ransomware causing chaos globally – BBC News
Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Is this AI’s moment of truth? | BBC News
A year ago, artificial intelligence was being sold as something close to science fiction — a technology that could transform society, cure disease, even reshape the global economy.
Today, the tone is changing. The companies leading the revolution are racing to the stock market — chasing billions in investment — while quietly confronting a much harder reality: AI is expensive, unpredictable, and far from profitable.
At the same time, some of the very people building this technology are warning we may be going too fast — even calling for a global pause.
And beyond Silicon Valley, a different story is emerging: growing public anxiety, political backlash, and the rise of what some are calling anti-AI populism.
So is AI entering its most pivotal moment yet — caught between financial pressure, technological risk, and political resistance?
AI Decoded Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Financial Times AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, Thematic Strategist at Deutsche Bank Research Adrian Cox and Richard Coffin, Host of popular investing podcast ‘ The Plain Bagel’.

So during the 70's when all the scientists were warning us about global cooling, Exxon scientists somehow knew more?
The UN told us in 1972 that we only have 10 years to stave off climate disaster.

Everyone in the comments bitching about ExxonMobil, while you're driving gas guzzlers, or flying to your vacation destinations, are nothing but hypocrites, just like John Kerry, Al Gore, Biden and his Rat pack, and everyone else that travels using fossil fuels.
Stop believing the lies, Co2 levels have been much higher than they are today, and the climate was great. Scientists know what is causing the climate to change, it is the sun, and the bible has predicted it over 2000 years ago.

Back in the 1970s it was "The Coming Ice Age". They then moved to "Global Warming" & then something more vague "Climate Change". Now every time there's a weather event they blame C02 & Humans. LOL

It's not true, this is yet another conspiracy-theory based on absolutely nothing, same as that flat earth crap or that there where bombs in the twintowers. Exxonmobil didn't do nothing wrong! They've been supporting our lifes in energy-demands for decades. Please show some respect to this dear company!

so, we should listen to exxonmobil´s scientists, instead of outside of exxon, since they seem to know better?

What about Edward L Keith's book? It regarding "climate change" as a total myth?
He's a retired, American, rocketscientist. So that makes him qualified, right?
PS. Facts can be fudged by a lot. Especially if you're senile enough to pick your data, from the 1960's, or whenever…

Money hungry lowlife scabs. Guess what idiots, your children, grandchildren, and their children are going to pay for YOUR greed. What's next, is this going to be investigated, people, companies held responsible. Let them fund the changes needed to hopefully clean this mess up. Disgusting people, disgusting world.

ExxonMobil did not exist in the 1970's. They need to be more precise.

Climate change has nothing to do with auto exhaust or emissions. There has been a substantial increase in seismic and volcanic activity over the last hundred years. This has increased the temperature of the land, sea, and air. The weather is most likely changing back to what it was 2,000 years ago. When the Romans were in Britain (40BC-380AD) they grew citrus fruit in the north. Look up "Roman Warm Period" and "Medieval Warm Period" online. It appears that there is a major change every 1,000 years and that is where we are today. Periodic change in the heat, light, and radiation created by the sun affects the earth both above and below and is the cause of the global warming we are experiencing.

People who invest in alcohol companies hope for millions of new alcoholics. People who invest in tobacco and pot hope for millions of new smokers. People who invest in oil hope for cold winters, lots of shipping and large trucks for everyone.
If you are invested in all three, you're hoping for a bunch of smoking, alcoholic, truck driving young adults to fuel your fortune. But how dysfunctional is that society? Money blindness. Corporate executives are more blind than most, and can justify away all sorts of social evils in pursuit of a new car or vacation home.

I don't think it's fair to blame 1 oil company that was actually worried about climate change in the 1970's.
You only need to see how much plastic is in your bin to know we live in a world that just doesn't really care about the environment. Just sell the problem to poorer countries and then blame them for the problems.
