Yesterday in a seemingly last-minute decision, Johnson decided to ‘cancel’ Christmas for around 20 million Brits, limiting Christmas for millions more. So in this video, we discuss what led him to this decision and why despite mounting pressure the call wasn’t made sooner.

The virus is changing by the minute, mutating, changing to different variants etc. This can only be a reaction by the government NOT a proaction since it is scientific based from testing. Therefore , there is no such thing as last minute.

As a UK citizen, I can confirm that I shall not be spreading the virus in the UK at all, as I am all alone in my apartment, having basically no trips outside other than the very occasional shopping trip all the way in my place in Lithuania because you gotta love leaving the country before the virus was big and staying safe in a foreign country.

IF the new strain spreads 70% more easily the following are the consequences:
    1. If you would be at an R-value of 1, meaning the spred is continuing at a constant pace with the current restrictions. If, then, the new strain takes over you would have to limit your contacts with others by 40% just to get back to R=1.
    2. If the old strain needed 2/3 of the population vaccinated to achieve herd immunity, the new strain needs 80-85%.

Obviously, lockdowns don't work. If they did, the UK and other nations with severe lockdown policies should be fine by now.

I just think God that your forebears had more guts than you. All this for an infection that has well over a 99% survival rate. I guess Agincourt and Dunkirk are well and truly history.

It seems to me that they tried to hold off on announcing new restrictions as long as possible because they knew that "cancelling" Christmas would be unpopular with the brainless mob that just wants to take the risk and see their families. But the new strain accelerated to a point where they had to make a move. So now they catch flak for making a last minute decision. Politics is really an art of treading the thin line between sides.

To be fair To Boris, he's between a rock and a hard place, after all the BLM Riots and the like breaching lockdown where the media and police did nothing about it (until counter demonstrators showed up to protect the war memorials from the rioters…..because they couldn't be having that now could they?) He's got no chance of expecting people to keep away from their families over christmas, I've not been anywhere since Friday besides a covid test Tuesday that was negative that was only taken because they're offering mass symptomless testing here, no-one in my family has symptoms and we've got the most part not been anywhere with large groups of people and always with masks on in the few instances of going out such as the covid test or the shopping, so what's the problem with my family meeting up at christmas? No-one would be going anywhere they could pass it on until after the new year anyway so any risk involved would only be on those family present anyway.
The real truth is they don't want people traveling for christmas, that is reasonable, but forcing people that live up the road from each other from distancing at Christmas when they're already isolated for most of a week without symptoms is silly

    Boris calls Starmer "Captain Hindsight".
Well, seems like he actually had great foresight whilst Boris had no sight or sense. How much unnecessary blood is on this blunderers hands?! I wonder if this is why Dominic Cummins decided to jump ship too?

I have to wonder whether Matt Hancock has blamed this new strain for all the extra cases as a cheeky get out of jail free card, rather than admit London should have been in tier 3 along with the other major cities. It would be interesting if we could get data on the impact of their lesser restrictions compared to the impact of this new strain. As I understand it, London was allowed to stay in tier 2 because they have more hospital capacity. Not because they had lower cases.
