It’s only a matter of weeks since the UK officially left the EU, and many of the consequences for the Island of Ireland and the Irish Border still haven’t come into force. However, that still hasn’t stopped an escalating conflict between the UK and EU. So in this video, we discuss this conflict, why the EU is upset with the UK, and whether this will escalate to a court proceeding.

A handful of people have accurately pointed out that we made a mistake in this video. We said that the EU triggered Article 16 which they didn't, they only threatened to. That's entirely my fault when recording the VO, the script & writers are absolutely correct – Jack

I'd love to see a war between england and Europe. I live here and they're absolutely vile, the passive aggression is out of this world and now the money's during up there's very little here to smile about

Sorry but the EU did not implement article 16 they did speak about it,

Any country has a right to put up borders wherever they want as long as it isn’t on the neighbouring countries land. And should have the right to border control how they want . Plus they are no longer in Europe so European high court should have any say. Any agreement can be ripped up whenever any country feels fit. In this case the Irish are not Britain’s friends , never have been never will.

BASICALLY Westminster don't like the fact that Northern Ireland are prospering whilst the none Ireland UK is doing so badly economically. That is why the Westminster thugs are dragging their feet over this issue.

Of course protecting your own citizens and your own economy is much more important than upholding a treaty which only benefits the other party.

Lets just leave the EU completely. We will have to graft for a few years but we will thrive afterward, plus we will get to keep our country. GDP of world trade in the single market is due to drop to just 8% in the coming years. There is no future in it. Lets get ahead in the game. Scrap the trade deal, trade freely with NI and if EU want to put up a border let them carry on. 🇬🇧 amen

One Britain is intitled to take unilateral action of that reduces UK unity in dealing with the Northern Ireland situation but not that reduces Irish unity BT to the balance is any change in the situation that moves a part in any area is a violation of the good fryday agrement unless it is enacted a by the party being associated with. This means of that the British government reducing the closeness of Northern Ireland and Britain is not a violation neither is the Dublin government read increasing the distance between Northern Ireland and the Republic. However for Britain to increase the distance between Northern Ireland and the Republic without a Northern Ireland vote for example by removing Northern Ireland from the EU is a violation of the acordsl against the Republicans. Having already violated Good Friday by polling Northern Ireland out of the EU against its will any move to increase enter UK trade at the expense of the border of the single market is way TF out of line.

NORTHERN IRELAND AND ITS UNIONIST PEOPLE, HAVE ALWAYS SAID NO TO THE PROTOCOL. AND THE EU HAS TRIED TO FORCE UNREST TO ONE HALF OF THE PEOPLES IN NORTHERN IRELAND, BY TRYING TO PUNISH THE BREXIT VOTE ITS PLAIN AND OBVIOUS TO SEE.. SO TELL THEM WHERE TO GO AND GO WTO AND HARD BORDER, CAUSE IM DYING TO GET MY WEE HAMSTER OUT AGAIN..

  12. @i.amleonard

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

The masks are off and the “I’m trying to look balanced” brexiteers have dropped their mask to “Brexit nerds” eventually. What is under the deepest political Mid? I am asking as as you reached it.

  13. @tramorester

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

It's a British border in Ireland, not an Irish border

  14. @drscopeify4582

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

The EU is trying to be a superpower so even if brexit and trade negotiations are needed and overall benefit both sides the EU simply does not really care because that is not what they are after. Proof of this is in requiring a vote on referendum in northern Ireland to try and unify Ireland which means more resources, power, influence for the EU. Also, being very technical, forceful and bureaucratic in dealing with the UK shows the EU position that being aggressive gains them more influence and power either by instigating trouble within the UK or making it look like the UK is falling apart to try and get Scotland to leave. There is more than just trade and brexit deals here, there is a power struggle for the UK to survive and for the EU to get as much power as it can out of the UK. This all reminds me of Russia grabbing Crimea. A powerful entity thirsty for more power, the EU and Russia have a lot in common then one might think.

  15. @peterb6783

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Looks like the UK always want to kick the can down the road. EU just keep your foot down.

  16. @maxwellweiss9849

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Better idea, what if the UK just never leaves? No problems then

  17. @endlesssabbatical9612

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

UK govt are to blame, they signed the deal and now want to go back on it. They need to acknowledge that Brexit was always going to create an issue and address it rather than simply hoping it will go away

  18. @gerarddugdale8800

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

The EU did not trigger Article 16 and you should correct your record on this point.

  19. @davidwebb6556

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

The crazy bureaucracy of the EU. The people of Northern Ireland won't understand the ridiculous complexities. They'll just blow each other up instead.
Solution: the British immediately implement all of the border checks that the EU demand. Then they covertly tell all of the border officers to just let everything through unchallenged. Everyone is happy.

  20. @josephwallis8965

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

I think war is inevitable, but having said that, it probably is just war of words, NI residents know that UK has no reason to stuff them up more than the EU. EU is the culprit, so the violent elements will be limited.

  21. @omegaRST

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

The UK is literally messing with world peace by completely disregarding international law, they are slamming straight into thin ice

  22. @bad307207

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

The Problem with "breaking international law" is it sounds so serious, Sound like something a Bond villain would do! But if the most likely punishment is say a fine then how much are we talking… It MIGHT be worth considering if accepting the fine(s) isn't the best solution? We need to consentrate on the most likely punishment and see if it would hurt less than the most likely results of trouble in northern Ireland?

  23. @wennick4859

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Season 3 of brexit is no where near as entertaining as the first 2

Hate the fact that you are repeating the incorrect information and you are adding fuel to an already inflammable situation. Surely it ought to be possible to take down something so incorrect.

  26. @patrickvalentino600

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Wow if the UK could have foreseen this debacle, maybe they would have just let Ireland be Ireland for the past 100 years.

  27. @davidsmith5094

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

There's a technicality here,, both Northern Ireland and Scotland voted,,,as I understand it, to remain in the EU..
While England voted to exit…what is needed is a win/win situation,,all sides need to be appeased,,,and just how does one do that is the million dollar question…there's a situation here where Britain as we know it today,,can splinter and break up just like the Soviet union,,and former Yugoslavia…it actually not impossible anymore..and none of us want to see that..

  28. @barracuda008l4

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Suing for a treaty that has not been approved by the EU parliament, does not have any legal standing, obviously except in the puppet ECJ. THEY CAN NOT DO ANY LEGAL ACTION FOR NON APPROVED TREATIES in accordance to International Law. Only thr UK parliament has approved it

  29. @RonnieOP

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

All I am thinking here is like
You did this to yourself, UK, you shot yourself in the foot (or should I say Northern Ireland)

  30. @deso5319

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

there shouldn't be hard border from Northern Ireland to main land UK if EU wants to protect single market and respect to good friday agreement then they should have border from Ireland to main land Europe sense the UK would not be part of the single market an is not the responsibility of the British to protect its Europes

  31. @arcticflower7223

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Wait….when people say "Northern Irish border" do they mean its border with Britain, not the Free State?

  32. @user-hp5fz3qs1u

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

So let's take the EU to court for withholding
Our vaccine that we paid for

  33. @Roger4459

    December 25, 2023 at 11:22 pm

Creative man Boris Johnson. At this rate, he will create a separate Scotland, the return of the northern Ireland troubles, and eventually, the unification of Ireland. All the exact opposite of what he wishes to create.
