As someone who is neither from the UK nor a member state of the EU, I feel the UK is in the right here. An internal border between parts of a country isn't normal, and even if agreed to at one point should always be considered under reevaluation.

  3. @korytoombs886

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

Customs checks should be done at a separate location, away from the actual border. Camera's set up to make sure transport trucks actually comply + random checks on civilian vehicles well within the borders of each country.

Nobody made Johnson to sign? TLDR news pretends not to remember that Johnson minority goverment in late 2019 was forced to come back with a deal because no deal had already been made illegal by the pro-EU Commons. Unsurprisingly, the EU helped by the pro-EU element in London only agreed to replace the backstop with the Protocol…

The mess in NI cannot be attributed to Brexit and Johnson only. The pro-EU element in London and Brussels shares responsibility too.

So, what is Brexit Britain if now it is "Global Britain"?
Oi Macron – if NI was a separate country to the UK you shouldn't be talking to Boris about their trading arrangements.
Biden wants to trade with UK but not with EU? That seems odd given his racist assertion that he is Irish. Surely it is not HIS problem at all. US can trade with EU on their terms and UK on our terms; border control is a UK/EU issue.
Ireland wants (and needs) to trade both with AND through UK. It is just the EU which imposes restrictions and monitoring.

  20. @dylreesYT

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

"Nobody forced you to sign it". Nobody forced the individual who signed it with a gun to the head, sure. But it ignores the fact that not only is the UK a representative democracy, meaning it's not "signed" the the electorate in a referendum, it's also a democracy which means 48% of the electorate (arguably that number may have increased or decreased as people begin to accept the good possibilities of Brexit or older more anti-EU people leave the electorate while younger more pro-EU people enter the electorate) also didn't want to leave anyway so a deal was required in many of their eyes while even Brexiteers didn't get a more specific choice about what kind of Brexit they wanted. Furthermore, ignores the 2019 election where Boris Johnson gained a huge majority, largely representing the English electorate, able to drown out (whether by accident or maliciously) the concerns of the Northern Irish and the desires of the Scottish (and the 10s of millions of English people which like the EU as well).
It's not as simple as just "you weren't forced" because the electorate wanted a deal, the Brexiteers wanted the negotiations over and the negotiators ran out of time (specifically, politically ran out of time). It's safe to say that literally nobody is happy with the rushed, undemocratically "signed" and misguided negotiations the entire time (thanks a lot Theresa May) agreement which was signed. Not the Northern Irish, not the Irish, not the Scottish, not the businesses of Great Britain with more checks to export to the EU, not the students from or to the EU, not the businesses of Europe who export the UK, not the politicians who, whether by accident, maliciously or genuine mistake, who are put in this tough situation.
It took me a long time but I've come to terms that leaving the EU is what the British electorate wanted (which means it's also what's best). But how it was done, the devil of the details, was messed up at practically every step and every level and may very well break the union as we know it.

  21. @esau93631

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

Funny, for how much the unionist claim they love Northern Ireland, they sure do treat the people of NI like shit. The UK is a damn joke. It is slowly self destructing before our eyes.

  22. @rogerusa9696

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

Britain is already global, despite this remoaner commentator's negative spin. Agreements are better modified rather than being walked away from when a genuine problem arises like the NI Protocol. It's obvious to everyone that the EU has been very intransigent on all UK issues since Brexit, just proving it was the right decision in the first place. Meanwhile, the EU is breaking up anyway. The Brits will win this dispute because they have bigger sausages.

  23. @BernhardWelzel

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

I would so much love to see that the EU be like "ok, we have it with you UK. You are out!", walking away. I know this will not happen as the EU cares about the people in NI and UK only cares about themselves…. from a certain perspective, Boris is holding NI hostage so he can behave like a toddler.

  24. @derekmab7734

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

Why do the Brexiteers always complain about the EU like kids? Even about petty little things. But I thought they left the EU and should forget about it once and for all. They even expect the EU solve their internal problems they created. A bunch of idiots who wrecked what used to be a great nation. Nationalism is the destroyer of a society. It does not correlated with business.

  26. @sryan9547

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

It's amazing how, when Britiain's future as a country depends on trade deals it can negotiate, they are now absolutely trashing the value of the promises they can make. They have broken agreements again and again and again – why would anyone make a deal with them??

  27. @DouwedeJong

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

at 1:00 minute in, you paint as if Japan and Canada is not on the EU side. That is simply wrong !

at 1:08 you say the problem is the Northern Irish border. That is simply wrong ! The problem is the promise Boris made to the DUP about no border between NI and the rest of Britain that Boris broke when signing a deal with the EU.

at 1:15 you say there is a sausage war. That is simply wrong ! That is a one-sided view from right wing British press. In reality, there is no problem. People can get sausages, they just need to implement the protocol. In the protocol, you need to ensure food standards in Norther Ireland are suitable for the EU.

at 1:24 you say the EU and the UK are at blows. That is simply wrong ! The UK is dragging its feet implementing the protocol they agreed. On the one-side the UK drops food standards for lamb from AUS, which means it will find its way into food to Ireland.

I CAN NOT WATCH YOU ANYMORE. Why do you do this?

at 1:41 you say it is complicated. It has been agreed and extremely simple. Making a nuclear power plant is complicated. Learning CSS is more complicated.

at 1:49 you say the protocol is supposed to solve the issue. That is simply wrong ! It does solve the issue.

  28. @Deepthought-42

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

There was a time when an Englishman’s word was his bond……
…..and then there was Boris Johnson.
UK is reaping what it has sown.

  29. @abhi65628

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

EU crying for Brits going back on it's words and agreements huh. EU should have read Indian Freedom Struggle before going in any agreement with them. These thick skinned ***** had gone back on their words and promises almost all the time.

  30. @livrowland171

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

Under Theresa May there was an alternative proposal called the Northern Ireland backstop, which avoided an Irish Sea border by the whole UK remaining in the EU customs union until such a time as an alternative was found eg. via a close trade deal (presumably with agreement on common standards). Johnson scrapped it and deliberately agreed to the current protocol under which NI us treated differently from the rest of the UK, creating the need for checks. Now he's saying the EU is being unreasonable by actually applying what he agreed to instead of being more 'flexible'. 🙄

  31. @charliezz6746

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

    What a biased title.

  32. @joriskemper5392

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

That whole Brexit cacophony has been set in motion by the UK. Now they ordered this pie, and they shall eat it if they want to ever trade with respectable countries. I wish things where easier for the UK and the EU. But it is what it is.

I remember Nigel Farage laughing with how Belgium is absolutely dysfunctional and how their government had work hard every year to adjust loopholes and regions so it does not fall apart or so that strange border conflicts do not arise, always with a smirk on his face. A big part thanks to him, now we have a similar thing to diffuse around UK's borders with only one difference. Belgium works, you damp rag.

  33. @joriskemper5392

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

If no solution comes up I vote for having a fight: Macron with a baguette VS Johnson with the last UK sausage ever.

If Macron wins UK becomes a vasal of Europe, if Boris wins UK get's free shipments of 500 000 of sausages per year but all of Ireland becomes a part of Europe and UK recieves the vatican once we managed to carve it out of Italy (max deadline 120 y).

  34. @ChrisRedfield--

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

Northern Ireland is part of the UK, not part of Great Britain.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland it is.

  35. @tiz75

    December 25, 2023 at 5:03 am

I understand that rules are rules and that Johnson is taking back his word on the NI protocol – is that really surprising? – but who cares about their sausages? They are not going any further than Northern Ireland or Ireland. The rest of Europe doesn't care about them so there is no reason to worry that something which does not respect European rules reach the market on the mainland.

    John 3:16-21

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
