I really don't understand the fuss. Brexiters tell us that our economy is flourshing and booming.
Laugh, there wasn't a dry seat in the house.

Not hard to see why they introduced the PAYE system in 1944, never let a crisis go to waste..

This is the worst Chancellor since Gordon Brown. At least he sold UK gold at a discount, whereas this Chancellor has wasted more money with no return. Mexico has been wise enough to reduce fuel tax to ZERO which would help supply chain, but this government is knee deep in incapability and incompetence. UK will be walking in treacle of a recession for at least 5 years . Any tax on fuel is a tax on supply chain and manufacturing, construction and farming, why can't they see that.

I think we have become immune to hard times be it war, disease or finance and everybody expects the government to maintain our lifestyles no matter what. We expect the government to be responsible for every problem, solve it and pay for it. We spend when times are good and are ducked now times are bad. Being responsible for oneself and social responsibility are out the window.

That's right and who's to blame? The new world order ,That's Who!!

  12. @pilot3003

    December 24, 2023 at 3:05 am

The problem is that the idiots that control our economy are living on another planet when it comes to their wage or pension packet, they wouldn't have a clue how the rest of us try to survive if their own Mothers taught them, so as far a Sunak is concerned what does he think that the poor buggers in this country will use to pay for their gas, heating oil and electricity with, maybe Roubles !, and when they can't are they expected to be forced into debt by their own Government, forced to have a pre-payment meter, which is effectively cutting you off.
Then when the next general election comes up they'll want our votes, but all those who suffer now won't vote for the Tories or Labour, cause they 'aint worth a light, it'll be about 30% of the country voting, all those with more than enough to feed their fat faces, and who ever wins will proudly announce that the majority of the country voted for them…..BOLLOCKS.

Its starting to feel like I'm playing a game with monopoly money. Its all made up and worthless, but we keep pretending to exchange things like we gain something.

I think we, as in normal British people are doomed to poverty and misery in one form or another as obvious as our politicians and business leaders and banking system milk us dry of incomes, values and worse of all …the little hope that we once had. Division is monumental as is the betrayal of those we have elected.

  15. @justmyopinion2818

    December 24, 2023 at 3:05 am

As we have heard and are still hearing many if not all of the covid measures were pontless and did nothing, So the Government should have opened up the economy sooner and that way we wouldn`t have been in so much debt …… but that was the plan all along, because debt soon will crash all world economies

We are skint but always find the money for these people coming with no papers and look after them at 5 million a day for this if this was a company we would be bust just wake up and smell the coffee

Fuel prices rose before Ukraine and other price rises come from fuel and electricity rises.
This is all to pay for the covid charades.

  25. @christopherwhite5540

    December 24, 2023 at 3:05 am

These increases we have have nothing to do with Ukraine the fuel and energy was going up before the Ukrainian started. 5p is nothing that’s a saving of 22.5p a gallon he should have taken 5% of the vat. Do people think we are all stupid the extra billions he as taken in vat of fuel is over 4 billion

I can remember the previous Labour spend, spend, spend Government, which plunged the county into Austerity – Labour had no manifesto back then, and they still don't have today. They are the party of we'll throw money at everything for votes and support. Lord only knows where we'd be today if a Labour government was in power during the pandemic and Russian atrocity. We would be in dire straits! Plus for personal information – I am a single, disabled working woman. IF the Labour Party produced a manifesto on how they would do it better, and at the same time admitted for the world to hear that only women have a cervix, I'd 'consider' voting for them. Until then, nope… never!

We need to fundamentally change how we measure inflation or have an index that reflects the increase in the most essential items (energy, housing and food).

If everyone was rich nobody would be rich , if we all woke up with million pound annual salaries , a loaf of bread would cost £100. The vast majority of brits are rich they just don’t know it

This comes as Andy Burnham is set to become the UK’s seventh Prime Minister in a decade, with seemingly no one challenging the “King of the North” for the country’s top job.
