What I think I would've wanted to do with Jamie's picks is just slap some salt onto the salmon and toss it under the grill, try to turn the grapefruit into like more of a chutney, let it have a bit of a sour kick and serve just a bit on the side, boil up potatoes, because that's whatcha eat with fish here, mash 'em and use the chives along with cream in the mash. Unfortunately for me that woulda taken way too long aaand probably been too basic. But lets assume I just wanted a meal. lol

Barry's look of utter terror after finding out the last of his 3 ingredients was worth the watch alone lol. Haven't seen past it yet, hope he had some luck and look forward to finding out.

  4. @electronsauce

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

I love Barry's idea. I would have put it on a croquette and just caramelized the pear on top of it with a sprig of dill.

Jamie? I have no clue lol.

Haven't seen results yet. LEZ GO

  5. @nixhixx

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Avocado is NOT a pear. It's a berry.

I actually cook outstanding chicken livers!

  7. @kendrajones2472

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Have you seen what us in the south USA call liver-mush?

  8. @abigailgerlach5443

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Poor Barry. I absolutely hate liver! I can't think of anything I could do with it in 15 minutes except drop it on the floor and toss it out! Lol

  9. @tavernowl1737

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

never had chicken liver, but if we go with beef liver, apples is a strong partner for liver.

  10. @dalekkirbygaming4876

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

That would be so easy for Jamie, simply blitz the grapefruit and chives with some lemon juice. Then reduce it down and toss in some vinegar and butter for something of a demiglas, then drizzle that over the salmon with some more chives to garnish.

  11. @Boltman47

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

I think every episode, of the kind that rewards patches should have an upgrade. Each guy should have and dress in a boy scout uni with their little fake badges lol. This series is probably long over, but i can't get jamie outta my head with a tight jacket and the seams and patches popping off

  12. @ethancampbell215

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

I would love Ben to go up against Kush or Slater following this format to see what two trained chefs would do with three random ingredients, limited preparation time and a very short time limit to complete their recipe

  13. @karndrogo

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

When in doubt I turn anything into fried rice

  14. @adalovelace13127

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

I will never get over Barry screaming PEARS at the can of pears in pure frustration 5:11

  15. @bernardofabrica

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

yuou can make a white bean squid fejoada

  16. @simonhbacon

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Chicken liver parfait with caramelised pear on brioche with a bit of balsamic glaze. OK so I would try and hide the dill in the parfait and I don't know what bread is available.

Mexican spiced salmon with grapefruit salsa, chive finely chopped for garnish.

  17. @HorthornNZ

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

I would have spent 15 min throwing the ingredients in the bin and going out to buy a pie.

  18. @ethancampbell215

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

There’s never been a better example of the gap between the normals and the chefs because the normals being tasked to come up with a recipe and plan to achieve it on the fly is exceptionally difficult but the chefs would’ve started planning and preparing before the time began, adapting as their ingredients were allocated rather than watching the normals panic and stress about their recipes after the time started

  19. @wendydias3778

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

    FEIJOADA!

  20. @marybell2897

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

So going 2nd is definitely better than getting to pick the ingredients.

  21. @scrossley8583

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

I adore Jamie's little miming session with the flavours

  22. @krissiebotha5596

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

If i may ask when will the side kick app be made available on the Huawei store, as Google play isn't available on the newest Huawei phones 😢

  23. @gnomersy1087

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Hmm. I think if I was Jamie I'd have gone with a grapefruit glazed salmon with a side of steamed or roasted veg.(broccoli/cauliflower maybe) or a salad, and a loaded baked potato. Blend up the grapefruit strain it into a pan add a bit of sugar and maybe some wine to add some more fruitiness and acidity, reduce it to a sticky sauce baste it onto the salmon to let it get some more caramelization at the end of the cook use the chives as a garnish but also as part of the loaded baked potato. Dunno if it would be good but maybe. If I was Barry I'd have crapped my pants I've literally never cooked livers.

  24. @skilletborne

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

My instant thought for the liver was a liver and dill pate served with toasted bread and cheese, with a sweet pear sauce
    Simple, but a little decadent.

  25. @1010TheRocker

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Barry's WTF face never ceases to entertain. We see it when he realises his choices, we see it in the poker face challenges, so GIF worthy

  26. @martah5369

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

The liver stew I learned from my mother here in Sweden (liver, flour, cream, salt and white pepper) should go alright with dill. And pear? Well there was lingonberry with it so something sweet should be fine.

  27. @nicholascrow8133

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

One went with "What can I do within the time" the other went with "Can I do this within the time?"
I think the results speak for themselves…

  28. @nicholascrow8133

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Jamie actually gave Barry a gift by choosing grapefruit…

  29. @linebrunelle1004

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

listen. I know it's funny, etc
BUT women all over the world are making meals for a whole family with less then you boys had access to. GET over yourselves

  30. @acolytetojippity

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Jamie…I would have hit the salmon with a bit of dark soy sauce, maybe with a little rice wine vinegar. throw it in the oven to cook off, then once it was done hit it with some sesame seeds and some finely diced chives. put that on top of a lettuce/carrot (possibly quick-pickled using some of the grapefruit juice) and walnut salad, that's been dressed with grapefruit segments and a grapefruit vinegrette that's a bit heavy on mustard.

Lot of savory flavor from the salmon with some salty sweetness from the dark soy, balanced out with fresh crunch from the salad and a little bit of sweetness/bitterness from the grapefruit.

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

British humour… I love it. Especially this kind.

  33. @aellipsis

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Grapefruit honey glazed salmon with chives as a garnish on top.

  34. @AnonYmousxxx69420xxx

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Barry could have gone all in with the Banh Mi concept. Hot baguette. Thin and crispy fried livers in the bacon fat, with lardons, and a quick pickled slaw of julienned pears, cabbage, carrots with slivered chilies, finished with a garlic-dill aoli.

Jamie could have done with full salmon pie, but with sour cream and chives, some diced canned potatoes, pastry lid. Brulee the grapefruit supremes as a garnish for a vodka and grapefruit granita as an accompaniment.

  35. @kelodie3752

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Only four minutes in, but can y'all please drop a couple quid on some round pastry cutters for Jamie?

  36. @kamanama3671

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

    Other options:
    Salmon tacos or
    Salmon, ceviche

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

Liver fritters , my nanna always made them when i was little 😢

  38. @SlowmovingGiant

    December 23, 2023 at 3:04 am

watched this for the 2nd time and i have to wonder, would swapping the proteins have worked? Ben said that Jamies pie would have been better with chicken, would chicken livers and bacon in that tomato/grapefuit sauce work? Conversely would griiled salmon have worked on the bun with the pear and avocado salsa?
