Published

TLDR Daily: youtube.com/tldrdaily

Gibraltar is the only overseas territory that connects to mainland Europe and it’s still struggling to sort out its Brexit arrangements. How did this happen and solutions that are being proposed?

I have a solution, make Gibraltar and Scotland part of Northern Ireland, then unify Northern Ireland, Scotland and Gibraltar with Ireland, bringing them back into the EU. Then let them have independence referendums.,, Sure its convoluted but it makes more sense than Brexit.

Spain should permanently close the border with Gibraltar. All vehicle and pedestrian crossings should be permanently closed. Additionally, Spain should forbid any ship that that docks in Gibraltar from EVER docking in any Spanish port for perpetuity. Spanish airspace should be closed to all aircraft coming from or going to Gibraltar.

Additionally, all aircraft coming from or going to Gibraltar should be denied emergency landing rights on Spanish territory because somewhere between 10%-15% of all flights landing at Gibraltar currently have to be diverted to Spanish airports due to the dangerous conditions at Gibraltar's airport when it is windy. Shutting down emergency landing rights would effectively force Gibraltar's airport to close, since it would become too dangerous to fly commercial aircraft into its airport without emergency landing rights in Spanish territory.

Spain should also construct a large antennae array and some offshore wind turbines at the extreme edge of its territorial waters, which would make landing and taking off at Gibraltar's airport even more dangerous.

The Algeciras refinery should be expanded and its exhaust vents placed as close as possible to Gibraltar and upwind from it, so as to make sure that Gibraltar takes the brunt of the emissions from the refinery (and the smell!).

We're going to build a wall, and we're going to make England pay for it.

I recently became a Spanish citizen, and I think I will be voting for Vox, despite me being a Democrat here in the USA.
Gibraltar is like someone gets into your house moves into a bedroom without your consent and at gun point, and then, the intruder demands electricity, water and to be allowed to use the bathroom, kitchen and driveway to be able to get into the bedroom they invaded inside your home, but they spit on your face inside your own house every time they see you.
Gibraltar is like that bedroom in your home taken by an intruder; it is Spanish territory that was taken by force. Gibraltar's legitimacy is the same that should be given to a car thief trying to get a title for the car he just stole, NONE!
    SHUT THE GATE!

Jacob Rees Mogg has been the worse. People who want to retain an 18C Britain need to retire and let young people inherit their future. Bring back travel and trade. Also bring back EU protections for British workers. Nothing now to stop worker exploitation except the likes of Smogg, who don't see why workers should be entitled to holiday pay – nice. Now we can't blame EU for EVERYTHING our own Government has to take responsibility. Great!!

the brits said they invaded the Faulklands (also stolen land) because the majority of the people wanted to remain under the british flag. The overwhelming majority of the people of Gibralta wanted to remain under the euro flag,so much for the democracy story.

Gibraltar should go back to Spain since it's connected to Spain anyway!

  20. @NeoDragonCount

Gibraltar should belong to Spain all the same as Åland belongs to Finland. In fact, Gibraltar has an ever better claim as it's part of the continent while Åland is an island.

Gibraltarians as always wanting to benefit from spanish universal healthcare without paying any taxes.
