You are getting the Obama cabinet…
And within 1 year you are going to have the Harris administration and she is NO friend of Great Britain..
She is a big friend of Socialism and globalism though, and will most probably go with the Obama policy of sending the Brits to the "Back of the bus".

Honestly I’d rather us have a good relationship with the EU than the UK. Especially since the US could learn a thing or two, or ten, from the EU. I still hope UK/US relations will be healthy of course.

It's too easy to fall into the trap of thinking that it makes a big difference who wins. The difference is marginal. As well as the personality of the President, we also have the Congress, national interests on both sides and history that will influence policy.

The Bush family while.not English are related to the Royals. GWB was an 11th cousin twice removed from the Queen.
I'm a Trump supporter, especially with foreign policy. I see the UK as more important strategically than economically so I would be in favor of giving them a sweetheart trade deal.
Even just for our own selfish benefit. A stronger UK is a net benefit for the US.

I think the U.K. has never really found its role in the world Post WW2, seems to me we’re always floundering between the US, Europe and the commonwealth, never really feeling at home in any of them, we truly are an Nation without direction or place.
An Island really lost in the ocean
We fairly reluctantly joined the EEC in 1973 much to the dismay of CANZ, I dont really think we enjoyed being America’s Bitch, I mean look at Grenada and the Falklands, now we’ve left the EU, our ‘allies’ don’t really seem to take a second look at us.
I remember a commentator talking on the day we left the EU about how the bonds the U.K. had with Europe were so much loser than all the other nations, for the original 6 it was about preventing another war, for Iberia it was about overcoming Fascism/Nationalism with democracy, the Eastern bloc countries about overcoming communism’s legacy, for us, seems like we joined for the money.

December 21, 2023 at 8:22 pm
4:50 Trump also claims a good personal relationship with Xi Jinping, and that hasn't prevented him from leveling all sorts of attacks both rhetorical and real (ie: the trade war) on China as a whole, some of which are even deserved. Even if Trump and BoJo are truly besties, it doesn't mean squat for Trump's willingness to move forward with any sort of trade deal. And even if he does try to move forward, Trump doesn't believe in the idea of "everyone wins." He won't go for a deal that benefits both countries. He'd only sign off on it if he perceives Britain to be losing something (because if Britain isn't losing, and win-win doesn't exist, then it must be him that's losing and that just won't do!) So any deal Britain does make with Trump will necessarily have to be harmful to Britain in some way (or at least sold to Trump as such) and the only question is what industry BoJo would be willing to sacrifice in order to get trade flowing in other industries.
Biden might be a bit grumpy and more difficult to work with than just complimenting his big hands and moving on, but the result is likely to be far more fair overall because for all Biden's problems, he's not the same level of narcissistic fool that Trump is and actually understands the broader concepts of trade and compromise rather than trying to define it strictly in terms of winning and losing.
