You can just barely make pizza without tomato. You can't do it without cheese.

Mike said pre-made/pre-rolled puff pastry was a money saver. I used some just yesterday and it was $13 for a small roll I'm sure if I had the time and skill it would be far cheaper to DIY.

Can we get a Bit off more than I can chew series where Mike (or the other normals) pick some insane/ridiculous/difficult dish that they don't think they could ever handle but attempt it anyway?
@FuSiionCraft

You can make a pizza un less than 30 minutes and for ~3€.
And somehow, barry didn't succeed. And it didn't look good.
Damn.

Ebbers only has a single purpose when he stands on the side watching on and that is to pour petrol on the fire 😂 when the normals start panicking they start making mistakes which Ben uses as ammo to chime in with a sarcastic comment which infuriates the normal even more and causes a mild Huttlestorm to turn into a full blown natural disaster because the normals lose all focus, ignore logic and their knowledge and go into tunnel vision focusing only on what’s directly in their eyeline 😂

Nice to see a budget battle relevant to people on a low income £5 budget for four people has never been more relevant with current food prices. Would love to see a similar one with a longer time period , time vs money.

I like Barry using broccoli as a pizza topping. I've only seen that available in one takeaway. I created my own topping there, a selection of meats, broccoli, parsley (which was also an interesting one they had), and of course pineapple. It was delicious!

I made a budget meal last week. It was Thursday, so i didn't have much to work with. I was amazed it tasted so good. A chopped onion, few apples, tin of spam and garlic cloves to taste (for me about 5 lol). Fried them in oil, with salt, pepper, a few dried herbs. Then hydrated some egg noodles, and mixed it altogether. Probably two or three portions there.

There is no way the amount of saugages used by Jamie is less than 5 pounds, even if you calculate per portion prices. That is at least 30 pounds of meat.

Jamie adding butter beans lost the challenge for me as i dislike them, Mike wins in my book even though he went over a bit on time!

It’s really interesting seeing how good midweek dinners can be made on a budget, when people are suffering from the drastic inflated prices of products, seeing the guys make 4 plates of food for a fiver is a fantastic idea. It gives inspiration and knowledge to people who are perhaps struggling financially in such trying times with many world events occurring successively without fail, the world hasn’t really recovered from COVID-19 yet and unfortunately as a planet we’re having to mediate the Russia-Ukraine war without initiating conflict and causing mass destruction and casualties, nor does anyone want to stand back and do nothing and not support Ukraine who have bravely defended their land for over a year now, but this has affected the worlds wheat supply of which 80% of the UKs wheat import came from Ukraine. With gas prices rising as well as electricity, the cost of living is quite literally pricing people out of living, with some people at breaking point, choosing whether to eat actual meals for a week or heat their house for a week with some people being forced into this situation, not through choice, but because everyone is struggling and has greater knock on effects than anticipated, so this video idea is such a good idea because providing people with cheap family recipes that are very affordable considering these dreadful times provides a little bit of hope to people who may feel like they’re at the end of the rope with nothing to catch them, but these simple <£5 dinners for a family of 4 demonstrates how people can still eat decent meals on a tight budget when money is a particular issue, with some people setting a tiny budget of like <£3 for their dinner because it’s all they can afford, it’s horrible seeing people struggle and not be able to live their lives as they’re meant to be lived, with people literally surviving and not living. In my opinion, food, water, shelter, healthcare, education and warmth are the only necessities in life, everything else is a luxury. It’s heartbreaking thinking about people who are in the position where they cannot access at least one of these necessities, because living on these necessities is surviving, you’re not living, you’re coasting along day by day not enjoying the one life we get, people who appreciate life for what it is and live their lives are the winners of the world.

I know this is quite an old video but I’ve just thought of a new video idea:
It’s a chef vs normal cook off
The cooks have to spin the wheel 3 times which has a variety of different sums of money in the sections and the cooks have to buy an ingredient for that exact price. However the catch is, they have to buy a source of protein, a carbohydrate and a vegetable with the 3 prices they have taken from the wheel, this will limit the cooks to what they can get in terms of desired dishes they’re planning on their head because for instance if Mike spun a 50p and wanted a carrot which was 42p he couldn’t buy it and this gives the end dishes the 3 food types in sections which is so lovely 😂😂 It would be interesting to see how a chef selects a protein source, a carb and a vegetable on precise values and work around what they can find, we could make an exception and provide them with a 2%-5% tolerance either side of their value when buying ingredients because finding a meat source that is exactly £5 for instance might be quite difficult

Mike's should have won, if; a) he grates the onion and garlic (squeeze water out) and B) Used a lot less meat, and then made smaller rolls. Is great recipe (sadly) badly executed. Surprised only barry decided to do a vegetarian dish given the budget and time… And then he Barried it as usual 🤣

I am watchin this for the first time and I play a little game with myself. Before I watch I bet myslef if they: make two (or three depending on the show) completely different meals, get arbitrary time limit and it inevitably ends up in countdown last second finish. No matter what meals, no matter what time limits. Almost as if it was a complete BS. Let's play…

both Jamie's and Mike's dishes could have used bit more color, but otherwise looks appealing o-o Barry's got the colors, but not my top choice of three o;
loved that the bit with Jamie's glasses getting fogged up was kept in lol

Try 1" thick cauliflower grilled and then roasted 'steaks' – surprisingly satisfying and delicious and flavour as you wish of course. A head of cauliflower will make a few generous roasty slices and is affordable. Couscous with any kind of stock – super easy, add some frozen peas perhaps. Any kind of in-season veg. If you have leftover bacon fat (keep that in a jar!) use it with lentils You can easily make a meal for a small family for less than 5 quid. Not sure if cheffy, but will taste nice and be delicious. I don't know if this counts but having dried mushrooms on hand will be indispensable. Use that warm soaking liquid too except the gritty bit at the very bottom. Bon appetit.
