The inflation is directly linked to bills

Look up the BOE's "Executing a bail in" doc and understand how they intend to blow up the debt system and transition us to cbdc, blockchain, smart contracts, tokenisation etc. Considering central banks track record, you'd think this would be a good opportunity to discuss whether they should have authority over money creation vs a democratically controlled public treasury?

If the civil servants go on strike then they should all be unceremoniously dismissed forthwith, as they have been fighting against the will of the people for the last 6/7 years if not longer! They should lose their pensions as they have not paid into that scheme out of their wages, unlike all those in the private sector who have made quite substantial contributions!

Price rises are the consequence of inflation. To say price rises are inflation is incorrect. Inflation is created by the Government and the Central Bank and use this to inflate the debt away.

It seems fairly obvious that the public sector is draining the life from this country

What garbage… Public sector workers pay into their pensions as much as 15% of their salary… the pensions have been reformed several times and are less generous now.
Do you want 70 year old police officers and firefighters or nurses?
Private sector workers pensions can be found floating around the Mediterranean Sea in he form or Robert maxwell and Phillip greene yachts!! Don't be fooled.. keep your eye on where the money is!! It isn't with nurses, firefighters, teachers or bin men!!

I have a friend who works in local government and she simply refuses to accept she is privileged because of her pension arrangements! She even says that she contributes to it through her paying taxes, not realising that it’s the tax payer who pays her wages, and therefore her tax back to the government! Oh, btw, she has a University degree and therefore should be really intelligent! Doh!

What makes anyone think when inflation reaches 18% it stops there. Unless the government stops printing money, ie cuts spending AND raises taxes, it will keep on rising until all money becomes just valueless pieces of paper.

  15. @chrislambert9435

    December 19, 2023 at 9:44 pm

Inflation is from one place and one place only, it is from "government" working with central Banks to Print money and distribute this cash through so-called quantitative easing, the present Government spending schemes will cause more Inflation

I have to disagree salaries in the public sector especially civil service are 8% higher than the public sector. The ONS does not publish stats that the civil service earns on average 8% more than the private sector. The ONS also compares like for like, and then it is apparent the prvate sector exceeds the public sectr including penisons. There is a serious retention and recruitment problem in much of the public sector, as pay is not competitive. Start looking at skilled and technical roles, and the public sector pay lags behind. The real World examples are many, I can quote. That is facts not feelings. This is an old chestnut, comparing oranges and apples. Average is meaningless when comparing a neuro surgeon with a ar tender. Many public sector employees have had their salaries frozen since 2010. The man being interviewed here is not quoting facts, and espousing feelings over facts, and what he quotes he is being very selective with. Hardly a balanced interview.

Let them strike, let them get their pay demands, and watch as they squirm as the economy collapses on a scale never like before in the history of England!

Can GB news talk about a referendum on mass immigration please? Us Britons are being made a minority in our own country by mass immigration. We need a vote on our own future. This is immoral

My final salary scheme and many others where stopped on anti discrimination laws. It was argued that anyone that you couldn’t continue as if you where born after a certain date you couldn’t qualify. It was simple the company set up a new scheme for new employees and once younger people could only join the new scheme the old scheme was shut down under the anti discrimination laws.

Is it militant to want a pay rise for workers when they have had a pay freeze for 3 years and inflation is 10% and rising? I think not – this is a cost of lockdown and poor monetary policy crisis which the Gov has brought on itself. They do need to make real cuts in the state and get the economy moving again, and ditch net zero, that is a major disaster for the economy.

  29. @seaniek9175

    December 19, 2023 at 9:44 pm

Every country is to its neck in debt and no one seems to mind and central banks seem to be happy to keep printing the money. US debt is eye watering . Same with counteries like Italy , Greece. Hard to know where it will all end. Probably China will eventually take control over everyone

When you abandoned your wealth creating Engineering and manufacturing sector at the alter of local government none jobs ,coffee shops warehouses, banking and call centres etc , why the surprise when you have a massive national debt and an unskilled workforce highly qualified with a university degree in bullshitoligy .

  31. @williamkennedy5492

    December 19, 2023 at 9:44 pm

Sounds like i should have joined the public sector, their pensions are paid for by us, and out of kilter with reality.

12 years of Tory incompetence, 13 years of New Labour caused this and 5 years of the LibDems caused this.

The civil service and their gold plated pensions are in for a massive shock in the near future. Good, their ignorance and entitlement should be rewarded in kind.
