“I have a restless mind, I think I’m searching always,” Ruth Wilson tells us, when we ask what motivates her. For someone who is open about how shy she was growing up, it’s perhaps surprising to find that fear is a driving force for the actress – particularly when it comes to her career choices.
“I love learning,” she explains, in the latest episode of our video series, How I Got Here. “I love not knowing something – well, maybe I don’t like not knowing something, but the desire to know something drives me on. To learn about a person, or challenge myself, or put myself in situations that I’ve never dealt with before. Fear drives me… and not knowing.”

Why didn’t they continue the Luther series to at least 2 to 3 more seasons. But must have Ruth Wilson in it as she is the counter balance and tipping edge to Luther’s nemesis.

There are many good actresses but very few who can truly know how to nail a role, how to portray the essence of a character, how to capture a persona, and then project it convincingly. Ruth Wilson is one of those actresses who can actually do all that. Based on her work, she is obviously on Oscar level, and she's been that way for quite some time already. I would rank her talent on a level comparable to Cate Blanchett's.

I have great admiration and respect for English/British actors, as they are mostly so unwilling to act like stars. So many also have live theater experience, which I believe lends an emotional truth to their work, and gives them the opportunity to find different facets to their characterizations in having to perform them repeatedly. I also enjoy the writing very much.
