There is no such thing as “Trickle Down Economics”. It is a straw man contrived by economic illeterates as an argument against supply side economics. It relies on an analogy which is more akin to communism where all wealth/money ultimately comes from the state, and the state decides who gets to keep what size share of said wealth, which is clearly contrary to the core principle of Supply side side economics which focuses on production, not consumption.

it does not to trickle down and it never has or will and bringing in foreign labour has caused more problems than good

Reagan & Thatcher both proved that it does…

Denise Coates of Bet 365 has been paid £300 million a year for six years.
Twice the pay of all her 4,000 staff.
    When will that trickle down?

I can't believe we are STILL talking about trickle down economics 40 years later. No, it's not a strawman left argument. It IS from the right.
New Zealand, since 1984, and then on steroids 1991, both our right and so-called left governments went further neo-liberal than anywhere in the world. Further than Reagan and Thatcher.
We went from an egalatarian country to one of the most unequal countries in the world. We are a basket case. The young and those who emigrated here are getting out now, me soon too, sadly.
Highest house prices and rents in the world. They want nurses to immigrate here, well where will they live – some overpriced dingy flat, forget about saving for a million dollar cold house.
I couldn't believe yr PM borrowing to pay tax cuts for the rich. Trust me, it won't work other than to further increase house prices for the rich and higher interest rates and inflation. Then wait for the ram raids from the growing dispossessed

of course it does. If you don't create wealth, you don't get investment, if you don't get investment, you don't get jobs its as simple as that

"Trickle-down economics" does not even exist…and it's not "logical" at all, it's meaningless. It's a left wing caricature of capitalism that was fabricated in the US in the 30's. 'Trickle Down Theory and 'Tax Cuts for the Rich' by Thomas Sowell debunks this nonsense totally (12 pages £1.85 on Amazon).

  18. @missandry5178

  19. @ssjmonstar

    December 18, 2023 at 12:09 pm

It's furlough that's caused inflation and the government borrowing
The bank of England raising interest rates will have no effect on inflation
This isn't like the 2008 financial crash where banks was lending willy nilly and the bank of England raising interest to discourage further borrowing
This is what happens when you shut the economy down for 2 years and paying people to stay at home
    A recession will combat inflation

Only a fool thinks money in the government will trickle down. We know the money would have been wasted on pointless managers and mp's expenses. No one talks about trickle down government spending.

each time they cut the top rate of tax its increased tax take , and trickle down? they spent the last 3 years shoveling money in everyones bank account , from furlough to cost of living , thats hardly trickle down

  36. @deco2132

    December 18, 2023 at 12:09 pm

Most immigrants who come and work in this country spend as little as possible in the UK economy. Almost all the eastern europeans I currently work with live 6 to a room, buy cheap food from the local eastern european food store and send more than half their wages back to their home country every month. This is destroying the British economy.

  37. @stephfoxwell4620

    December 18, 2023 at 12:09 pm

    Obviously no.
They have tried it since 1980.
42 years and all that happened was the rich got much much richer.

  38. @Set-ri6rs

    December 18, 2023 at 12:09 pm

Not while our windswept tax haven islands exist, after all there is no legal way of forcing them to invest.

  39. @tomround8271

    December 18, 2023 at 12:09 pm

It would probably work if you didn't flood the market with cheap labour through mass uncontrolled immigration.

  40. @tommyrotton9468

    December 18, 2023 at 12:09 pm

no, it works a little, but on the whole the money stays in the banks or in property.
What actually works is trickle up economics, if the poor has more money to spend the rich get richer if they work harder to sell things.
