Old myths, read slowly, for the dark hours.

On certain winter nights, people all over Europe heard something pass over the land: horns, hounds, a great company of riders, many of them dead. This is the Wild Hunt as the old sources tell it.
– A young priest in Normandy, January 1091, stood by the road while the dead went past him in their companies. A monk heard it from his own mouth.
– The monks of Peterborough heard black huntsmen blowing their horns all through Lent in 1127.
– King Herla rode home after three days and found that two hundred years had gone, the little hound still in his arms.
– The furious host of Germany, and the ladies who led it.
– The ride from Asgard in Norway, and King Valdemar, who rides every night from Burre to Gurre.
– The white hounds of Wales, and Herne by his oak.
And the one piece of advice every country gave: lie down, seem to be asleep, and let it pass.

Read slowly, in one voice, with a quiet ambient bed. You are meant to fall asleep to it.

If it helped you sleep, subscribe: a new story every other week, and the next one will be waiting the night you need it.

He remembered dying.

He remembered the people he had lost.

Most importantly, he remembered exactly what the world had taught him about trust.

When another life begins in the body of a child born into a poor family, there is no heroic destiny waiting for him. His family struggles to survive, illness threatens the people closest to him, and the world outside their home is filled with monsters, nobles, powerful mages, ancient secrets, and forces capable of destroying ordinary people without consequence.

Then he discovers magic.

Rather than accepting the rules taught by others, he begins studying mana for himself. Hidden from his own family, he experiments with elemental forces, strengthens his body, develops techniques ordinary children should never understand, and discovers abilities that he has every reason to conceal.

His path eventually leads him from dangerous forests and magical beasts to an elite academy where bloodline, wealth, political influence, and magical talent determine a person’s place in society.

Yet even the academy understands only a fraction of what he can actually do.

His greatest secret becomes even more dangerous when he bonds with a mysterious sentient artifact capable of growing alongside him. What begins as a seemingly worthless object gradually reveals laboratories, dimensional spaces, magical knowledge, and the remnants of an extraordinary living tower.

Together, they begin exploring increasingly advanced forms of magic, forging, healing, ancient artifacts, necromancy, magical creatures, lost civilizations, and powers hidden from ordinary mages.

But every step toward greater strength reveals another problem.

The protagonist himself may no longer be entirely human.

As his abilities evolve, something monstrous begins emerging beneath his human appearance—something connected to multiple forms of life, devastating elemental power, darkness, flame, and a transformation unlike anything ordinary magic can explain.

This is a long-form fantasy journey centered on reincarnation, survival, family, magical research, academy politics, ancient artifacts, monsters, character progression, and the gradual transformation of a deeply damaged man who finally discovers people worth protecting.

If you enjoy intelligent protagonists, detailed magic systems, magical research, hidden abilities, powerful artifacts, monster battles, academy arcs, and extremely long progression-fantasy stories, this adventure offers an enormous world to explore.
