On 20 February 2014, more than 50 anti-government protesters were shot dead in Kiev’s Maidan square. The massacre triggered the collapse of Ukraine’s pro-Russian government, prompting Moscow to annex Crimea and sparking a separatist war in the east. At the time, riot police were blamed for the deaths, but they were not the only ones shooting that day. The BBC’s Gabriel Gatehouse, who witnessed the shootings, returned to investigate.

There is that video i cant find on youtube. Of the guys saying it was an american coup from techcamp. Not sure if its legit, but even without the video this was they say about 2012 Kyiv session: TechCamp Kyiv marks the 14th TechCamp supporting Secretary Clinton's Civil Society 2.0. With a sale pitch like that, it's hard to think they had nothing to do with it

of course as always, unarmed innocent peaceful civilians. i have surely heard that one before. when you bring arms to a violent protest, you are basically demanding the police retreat. it is a very apparent threat to armed police forces . to still sit there and claim you are innocent and you were set up by the cia or russia is simply adding to the ridiculous split tongue rhetoric of this very vicious and very violent mass of fully self entitled white nationalists coloring themselves the victims of tyranny. you are the tyranny. you are the brutalizer. you are not the victim

An illegal, armed coup in Kyiv, when a gang of armed radicals and criminals attacked police officers, threw Molotov cocktails at them, and then seized the administration and authorities. After which these groups came to power, mainly nationalists and Banderaites! This is the main reason why there is war now and we need to remember this! ☝️

BBC lies as usual. Anyone genuinely interested in the truth and details about Maidan events should read the monumental, extensive, and significant research collected and published by Prof. Ivan Katchanovski from Ottawa, Canada. He collected and analyzed the evidence as presented in Ukraine court which followed these events. All videos are on his YouTube channel. Over 500 eye witness testimonies and hundreds of hours of video collected by people at the event. In short, the evidence proves that snipers were actually working for the government opposition and shooting from opposition controlled buildings. This evidence is extensive, undisputed, and complete. The only reason most westerners don't know the truth is because mainstream media lies about, hides and denies it. The videos prove beyond all doubt that snipers shot and killed both the gov. police and regular citizens. But most importantly, they prove that snipers were shooting from buildings which were UNDER EXPLICIT AND UNDISPUTED CONTROL of the Maidan organizers. Maidan organizers confirm this. Multiple snipers were also caught by citizens and brought to the Maidan organizers, which let them all go. Nearly all ballistic reports confirm that those killed and wounded were shot from trajectories, angles, and location which could only have come from the direction of Maidan controlled buildings, and not from the direction of the gov police. Anyway. Hope this helps someone.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Clive Myrie presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Sarah Smith in Washington.
