Whipped up my first-ever turkey last night, and it got rave reviews—apparently, the best ever tasted. Some feedback rolled in about the lemony kick being a bit too much. Taking that into account, I'll dial it back next time, using just two lemon's instead of three. I stuck with Gordon's gravy but added a roux for thickness. Also, I swapped regular smoked bacon for thick steak smoky bacon. Honestly, this turkey took the crown for the tastiest I've ever had. Sometimes, tweaking a recipe a bit makes all the difference—just my own spin on things

This is 2023, and turkey has never been as good as this year. Thank you Gordon Ramsay. I made it while you weren't looking, so you wouldn't be cussing at me as I prepared it.😂 All aside, my friends have said it was the best turkey in over 20 years.😊 I'm a huge fan Mr. Ramsay. Merry Christmas 😊

I don’t understand with a bird like a Turkey only salt & pepper as far as spices are used. I agree to flavour the butter & the use of olive oil, however, over the years I came to the conclusion of using sweet spices & mix them with butter & use the same to rub them inside & outside.
I put mine break-down & cover tightly with foil & the Middle East way to properly cook till m’est comes off easily so for 4 kg 3 hours in the oven the last 2.5 hrs on 180c & the sweet spices fill the kitchen with there aroma. 😋

Still using it. Except for the gravy. Moist and delicious bird every time. Hardly any leftovers.

So many black spots, that skin is burnt my man. There's a black spot in there the size of Jupiter's Great Red Spot. Should've used 325 (gas 3) instead of 350. Also salt and pepper on top of the skin causes black burnt spots.

Does anybody know what he did with the roasting juices for the gravy? I can see he added in the resting juices near the end but I’m not sure about the roasting juices, he put them into a glass bowl and you never see what he does with them?

Will riadting the gibbets with the turkey effect the flavour of the gravy juices?

  25. @irenerouse3163

    December 27, 2023 at 8:51 pm

    What happened to the gibbets?

I have a fan assisted oven. Should I still cook at 180? I am cooking his for the second year running as it was so well received.

I had no response to my 😊 about bacon as I don't eat pork. So I am trying turkey rashers in an effort to keep the breast moist. Hopping they don't ignite. 😅

Best way to cook a Turkey is to place it in a deep pan, but upside down. Try it
