I’m sorry I know the aim of this series is to turn a basic dish into a high quality dish that reflects the original dish and Ebbers put so much effort and provided a lot of firsthand knowledge into this but you can’t make instant noodles gourmet, that’s the beauty of them 😂😂 it’s literally impossible to take a dish that only needs hot water a high quality dish because instant noodles are specifically intended to be simple and convenient, not filled with fancy expensive ingredients 😂

works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

OK I am confused about something this is at least the second episode where Ben has talked about how great MSG is. But for all of my adult life I’m 60 I have heard that we need to avoid MSG that is very bad for us. Hence whenever I order Chinese I ask for it without the MSG

Instant noodles are better if you change the order you do things in.
Cook the plain noodles first.
Then drain them.
Then add the flavour packet + mix to coat everything.
The starch from the wet noodles combines with the seasoning powder to create a sticky coating which isn't diluted by water, so the taste of whatever is in your packet is noticeably stronger.

A perfect ramen egg, finely julienned green onions, a few greens, some char siu (not char sui as Ben pronounces it), some pickle element and wood ear mushroom perhaps. Simple, delicious. A spice blend on top of the provided packet as mentioned might be a bit much because those packets do pack a punch if you get a good ramen. But a little extra sesame or tagorashi blend wouldn't hurt. Pay a little more for a better instant ramen and you won't regret it. I mean $2 or $3 more. I know it is a different animal, but you can make a great bowl for say $5 or $6 for two people rather than $1 for a very sad bowl and be left with extra ingredients to make more later. Do not get the generic $1 Western instant cup noodles. Go to an Asian market and be spoiled for choice.

I'm a white guy in California USA, and MSG changed everything. It's such an amazing addition to all Asian cooking, hell I even get cheeky and add it to Thai curries!

I break up the noodles and boil them then drain and use in your stir fry and use the packet as your seasoning with brown sugar and whatever add ins you want – i love this topped with toasted almond slivers and with pineapple onions mushroom garlic n steak pork or chicken yum

Only think i have with this is that Instant Noodles were invented in Japan but they are being passed off as a Chinese invention?? if they prefer a chinese version, that perfectly fine but they should clarify that. i feel like they should be called different. When i hear ramen, i instantly think of Japanese noodles, if i hear of fried rice, i think of chinese food, if i hear pasta i think of Italy. Some clarification would be great. i also agree with other comments that i was expecting Ebbers to use a packet of instant noodles to cook with, maybe not the sachet but the dried noodles themselves. to me making a common food gourmet, doesnt mean complicated, it means elevate the flavors but keep it to where someone can still tell what the Dish is.
I have eaten 3-milk cakes for quite a while, normally bought in Mexican bakery's sometimes in normal grocery stores and some friends have made some but they cannot hold a candle to one that i ate that was made by a Argentinian woman that was co-owner of a restaurant we were remodeling. It was soft and moist and it retained the milk in the sponge which can make you think its dry but as soon as you bite into it, the liquid flows out of the cake. The level of flavor was amazing and i have yet to eat a cake that could come close, sadly she left the restaurant a long time ago so i do not know if i will ever get to taste something so delicious again. It was elevated but still retained its identity as a 3-milk cake. I never knew it could taste so heavenly. That is what i feel these challenges should try to convey more of.
