Welcome to Retro Reflections — and honestly, this one might be my favorite collection I’ve put together yet.

There’s something about these photos that just stops you cold. No Instagram filters. No retouching. No staging. Just real, raw, unguarded moments captured on film — and somehow that makes them more stunning than anything you’ll see today.

This video takes you deep into the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s — decades that shaped everything from fashion and film to music and culture. We’re talking Marilyn Monroe caught off-guard between takes in 1953. Audrey Hepburn laughing backstage during the filming of Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961. Elvis Presley in 1956, before the world went completely crazy for him. Grace Kelly the year she left Hollywood forever to become a princess (1956 — can you imagine making that choice?). Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in one of the most genuinely loving candid shots I’ve ever come across. Elizabeth Taylor during the Cleopatra scandal years. James Dean — those early 1955 photos still give me chills. Brigitte Bardot on the French Riviera in the early 60s. Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack living like kings in Las Vegas. Muhammad Ali in 1964 the night he became the heavyweight champion of the world. David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust era, 1972. Farrah Fawcett and Jack Nicholson at a Hollywood party, 1977. And so many more faces — some famous, some completely ordinary people whose lives were just as extraordinary.

What kills me about vintage photographs like these is the honesty in them. Black and white photography has this way of stripping everything down to what matters — the expression, the moment, the light. These aren’t celebrity photo shoots with a team of stylists. These are glimpses into real life.

In 1898, Bayer sold a new cough medicine under the trade name Heroin. It was marketed as a powerful cough suppressant — and, so the company said, a non-addictive substitute for morphine. Doctors prescribed it, pharmacies sold it, and it was even sold as a cough medicine for children. It was not safe. This is the story of how diacetylmorphine, first made in 1874 and commercialised by Bayer in 1898, went from pharmacy shelves to the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act of 1914 and the Heroin Act of 1924 — and what it teaches us about promises versus evidence. How this video was made: every visual is labelled on screen. Real historical images and one piece of real 1906 period street footage are labelled REAL IMAGE / REAL VIDEO. Realistic illustrations of scenes for which no verified photograph exists are labelled AI ILLUSTRATION for their full duration and are never presented as historical photographs. The only real video is 1906 San Francisco street footage used as period footage — no licence-free real video of Bayer heroin itself was found. No verified real face photograph of the people in this story was found, so the thumbnail uses the real Bayer bottle photograph instead of a face. This video is history, not medical advice. Siber güvenlikte yeni durum, “saldırıyı önleyebilir miyiz?” değil; “saldırı gerçekleştiğinde ayakta kalabilir miyiz?” 🚨

📊 Siber güvenlik dünyasında en çok referans alınan yıllık yayınlarından biri olan M-Trends 2026 Raporu yayımlandı. Google Tehdit İstihbarat Grubu (GTIG) ve Mandiant’ın 2025 yılında yürüttüğü 500.000 saati aşkın olay incelemesine dayanan bu rapor, tehdit ortamının artık tamamen yeni bir evreye geçtiğini açıkça gösteriyor.

⚡ Saldırılar artık daha hızlı gelişiyor, sistemlerde daha uzun süre fark edilmeden kalabiliyor ve etkileri çok daha yıkıcı olabiliyor. Ancak asıl dikkat çekici nokta şu: Saldırganlar yapay zekâ ve zero-day açıkları gibi gelişmiş yöntemlerden giderek daha fazla yararlansa da, başarılı sızmaların büyük bölümü hâlâ insan hataları, süreç eksiklikleri ve zayıf sistem kontrollerinden kaynaklanıyor.

🧩 Bu da bize çok net bir gerçeği gösteriyor: Siber güvenlik yalnızca teknoloji meselesi değil. İnsan, süreç ve kontrol mekanizmaları yeterince güçlü değilse, en gelişmiş güvenlik çözümleri bile tek başına yeterli olmuyor.

Üstelik tehditlerin hızı da ciddi biçimde artmış durumda. Raporda, ilk erişim ile saldırının ikinci aşamaya devredilmesi arasındaki sürenin 2022’de 8 saatin üzerindeyken 2025’te 22 saniyeye kadar düştüğü vurgulanıyor. Saldırganların meşru araçları kullanarak izlerini gizlemesi de bu tabloyu daha kritik hâle getiriyor. Yani güvenlik ekiplerinin müdahale etme süresi her zamankinden daha dar.⏱️

💡 Bu nedenle artık yalnızca saldırıları engellemeye odaklanan bir yaklaşım yeterli değil. Erken tespit, hızlı müdahale ve operasyonel dayanıklılık yeni dönemin temel öncelikleri arasında. Çünkü bugün siber güvenlik, yalnızca IT ekiplerinin konusu değil; kurumların iş sürekliliğini ve dayanıklılığını doğrudan etkileyen stratejik bir alan.

Bu yeni gerçeklikte fark yaratan şey, sahip olunan teknoloji kadar, o teknolojiyi doğru yöneten insan kaynağı ve güçlü süreçlerdir.
