There will come a stage where whole voting areas are mostly Muslim. There will be no feminists or gay rights. Here's a thing. Why does nobody ask British white heterosexual men what they think of children's education? Why don't they ask us what we think, not Muslim Pakistanis, what we think of closer links to India?

Keith Starmer is uninspiring, but I suppose it's good to give the Tories a little kick in the teeth in regards to their expectations (though it's hardly any sort of great victory for Labour)

I'm intrigued to see Galloway's return, after not seeing him for awhile. Certainly an interesting tactic, appealing to certain older conservatives and conservative Muslim minorities with radical economics but social conservatism. However, I'm certainly partial to his foreign policy, even if it's in significant part designed to appeal to the Muslim minority, though I'm not a fan of his opposition to Scottish independence (but it's not like the Tories or Labour are better in that regard).

Transphobia is more than just social conservatism, it is hate. Calling a party "trans-maniacs" in the already frequently transphobic environment of the UK needs more than just an offhand comment to address it in a video where someone is presented as just being socially conservative

  9. @samuelstern5593

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

You mentioned Galloway "opposed the Iraq War" and claimed that was why Muslims support him. You didn't mention his hatred of Israel and his overt antisemitism. Interesting coincidence.

  10. @user-mb3dx5fl9f

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Let's be honest. Labour just won it because Galloway stole a crazy share big of the Cons/UKIP/Brexit Party vote. As simple as that.

  11. @JoshuaBarretto

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Something that wasn't mentioned in the video: In 2019, the right-wing vote was split by the Brexit party: so that makes this result for Labour even more impressive.

  12. @stuartbh8165

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

It seems more like galloway would have stolen votes from the tories than labour with that campaigning and those social beliefs. It looks like tories lost because there vote was split between Galloway and Stephenson.

PS. WTH was that graph?? why have dissaproval and approval ratings in the same chart i had to pause to work out what it was saying. Otherwise great video as always

So basically Labour won by appealing to ethnic and religious tensions/hatred.
Isn't that a heartening and motivating start to any 'comeback'.

  19. @stasikapetanos1395

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

The people shouting at Kim weren't just random Muslim parents from the constituency it was some guy from Birmingham.

  20. @stasikapetanos1395

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

That Labour leaflet about Modi was the worst bit of the by-election? What weird moral plane do you live on?

  21. @stasikapetanos1395

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Is it really understandable that people would be mad at Kim Leadbetter for posing with Palestinians having maps of Palestine? No! It really isn't.

Isn't this proof that multiculturalism doesn't work? Muslims vote completely different than white/european voters 🤔historically it was only class.

  26. @johnberk9315

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Stirmer is a disaster and Labour is getting exactly what they want. They can keep blaming Corbyn while doing worse than they did under his leadership and just let the Tories stomp their faces until the end of time.

  27. @johnrmce

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

I understand from George Galloway's interview with Dan Wootten on GB news last night, claims that bags of postal votes arrived in black bags and that he has video evidence to prove it. This election may be overturned if his court action is successful, along with the fact the Retuning Officer should have allowed a recount as the margin was so tight.

  28. @squirepraggerstope3591

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Aw bless! Labour, the official opposition in a parliament now entering mid term, 'won' a by-election in a seat it's held since 1997..

…by seeing a 90% cut in the Lab majority and scraping home by just over 300 votes. While the tool narrating this stupid vid tries to excuse the dire Lab performance.

  29. @nigelkthomas9501

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Such a shame 323 muppets didn’t vote Conservative! That’s all that would’ve been needed. Just have wait until the next GE!

  30. @danielsykes7558

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Good piece. Plurality voting is shite.

  31. @creatamap_a2716

    Starmer= Blair 2.0.

  36. @johnholkham2420

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Starmers lost one bye election Hartlepool, Corbyn lost 2 elections there is a difference. It’s been a hard year where it’s been difficult to make news as an opposition leader. In a couple years the failure of Brexit , levelling up and more disenfranchised younger voters will chip away and voters might actually remember who actually been running country for last 11 years. Add to that I wouldn’t mind a bet that Johnson and friends won’t produce more bad headlines ie contracts for cronies

  37. @GarrowhillWoods

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

George Galloway tried to stand in the Scottish elections in May and got absolutely embarrassed, all he does is create tension and friction between people, he needs to go.

  38. @nicok5548

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Nobody is thinking there was labour fraud here?

  39. @smockboy

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

If you can call a narrow victory of 300 or so votes, in a place comfortable held by Labour for over 20 years, that half their voting base kinda wanted them to lose to justify kicking Starmer to the curb a win … sure. The cope is real I suppose.

  40. @denniss4609

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Starmer jumped on this outcome saying a 'fantastic result for Labour'. Of course, he had to milk it as much as possible knowing his head is still on chopping block.

  41. @jonathancooper4914

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

    A phyrric victory.

  42. @DebatingWombat

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

I think that the, to put it mildly, lacklustre turnout of less than half the electorate should merit more than a brief mention when discussing the outcome.

  43. @swapanzameen6302

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

What has happened to Respect Party?

  44. @splinterbyrd

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

The main opposition party should have annihilated the Tories, especially in a northern Labour seat like this.
It's either bring back Tony Bliar, or give the leadership to George Galloway. They're both monsters, but at least Galloway's a Socialist.

  45. @daddymuggle

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

    UK politics are really messy

  46. @RC-pt3lx

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

Missed TLDR's video on Chesham and Amersham.Hmm,of course, move along, nothing to see. TLDR using omission to cover up their subtle pro Brexit Tory bias

  47. @TABSF1

    December 22, 2023 at 6:31 am

    Galloway gave Labour the victory.
The Conservatives candidate played it safe.

    The swing is huge.
Almost 10,000 votes majority last time now reduced to just 323 vote. This was a win by the skin ot their teeth.
