Inside Russia: Traitors and Heroes – BBC News
In February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine.
Despite the huge risks, two Russian filmmakers spent the year filming the impact of the war inside their country. Hundreds of thousands have fled. Those that stayed have had to choose – to oppose, support or stay silent. A group of young graffiti artists begin a campaign of subversive art to mock the government’s pro-war propaganda. An actor mourns her brother who was killed in Mariupol fighting for the Russian Armed Forces. She is against the war; her father supports it.
Storyville Inside Russia: Traitors and Heroes was produced by BBC World Service’s investigation unit, BBC Eye.
Directed by Anastasia Popova, produced by Misha Kozyrev and Stephanie Stafford, Edited by Anna Saridi & Baya Cat, Exec Producer Monica Garnsey.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News
The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News
President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News
The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

In reality, the world is worried about the so-called BBC pedophile, we don't know if he is really a pedophile or some journalist who turned against the English system, which is usually immediately put in jail for sexual crimes!

This is sad as a American as much as I don’t like Putin you truly feel bad for these people who had no idea why they were going to die for Putin. All these young kids that are dead and Putin should be in jail for this. This was a unnecessary war. I don’t understand why he hasn’t pulled out of Ukraine I don’t understand what he thinks is gonna happen all he’s doing is sending people to the death and especially since these guys were her being trained on our equipment Putin really needs to wave the white flag and let this go. If he had a son would he send his son to be killed. Also a lot of people know what their being told is lies.

Putin is a real B*STARD, isn't he? Not only he decided to kill hundreds of thousands of people to do a land-grab, but he's also keeping his own people in the dark about it so they don't get in his way.

— WARNING — BBC is a far leftist ugly bigoted anti-white racist disgrace being pimped with far left government money. Make a list of all employees so you know who needs to be held to account once we rid our country of these ugly anti-British bigots. Of course, after a "fair" trial, we shall start meting out the punishments as they are so dearly required.

So Vanya got blown up to pieces. Very good. What makes it even better is the fact that he died in Mariupol. So he most likely got killed by Azov that they hate so much and make up bullshit about. His sister is also just mad because her scum of a brother died, not because he went there to murder people who did nothing to them.
He went there with a group that murdered, raped ant tortured people who did absolutely nothing to them – including children. Destroyed their livelihood, homes and businesses. And he said "our cause is just". That's a TYPICAL russian. And we're supposed to feel bad for these people? They're absolute scum.
@kuhen25
January 27, 2024 at 5:18 pm
Let's make this extremely clear: russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. Not 2022. Secondly, a huge majority of these russians who are supposedly "against war" (probably just 20% of them) are not much different than the rest.
Despite being "against war", they still believe in this "8 years of Donbas" garbage in some way, hesitate to say Crimea is Ukrainian, or believe the war is not black and white, and that there's "2 sides to the story".
So, fuck all russians. If you russians want to show you're different, there's only 2 ways. It's not through protesting or postings on social media / news. Go to Ukraine and fight against the russians. That's your ONLY redemption. If you're going to pretend like you're such a moral person and don't want to kill another, then stand in front of the Ukrainian soldiers and take that bullet instead of them.
@kuhen25
January 27, 2024 at 5:18 pm
Why should anyone feel bad for russians? This isn't even 0.000000000001% of what Ukrainians are going through BECAUSE OF russians. And you can reply saying "we never asked for sympathies" or "we never said our situation is worse than Ukrainians". If that's not what you're saying, then why are you crying about the experience? Every russian deserves to be called out by the public all over the world. You DESERVE to have your day ruined.
Most of you so called "anti war" russians are no different. Most of you still will not say Crimea is Ukraine without any hesitation, or claim Crimea is russian. Most of you still believe in this "8 years of Donbas" garbage in some form. Most of you will not say the war is extremely black and white and Ukraine has no blame at all in it. Most of you will still bring up NATO, US, or "russia's security". This is even AMONGST the so called "anti war" russians.
So, you deserve all that you get. Go back to russia and rot there. Want to prove you're different or a "good russian"? Simple, go to Ukraine, and fight in the trenches against the russians. That's your ONLY redemption. If you want to make an excuse saying you don't believe in killing, then stand in front of Ukrainian soldiers and protect them. That's your ONLY WAY of proving you're different. Not with your pathetic "protests" or "speaking out".

and Vanyas father had soviet army cap behind his pic….. it explains that country better than their " pain". russian heroes are the only ones who go and fight. against people like Vanya in Ukraine. Never forgive and never forget, no mercy to ruskies.

"WE decided that he should follow in the footsteps of the great writers and join the Army.."
Vanya :"Our cause is Just"
Vanya dies for someone else's dream and a megalomaniac despots vicious prejudice and sadistic persecution of people he has been told, should die for a "just cause" which isn't his…
Vanya made no decisions for himself, he died because others wanted him to live up to their ideals.
