As an American, 30 miles is a work commute for some and a short drive to the next town over for others. Can’t imagine how Brits feel about this bridge or that distance

It's ambitious and not as ridiculous as this lunacy:
Four high speed railways have been proposed for Europe at a projected cost of €1.3 trillion (that's one million times 1.3 million) which is outrageous and I wonder how they intend to raise the money for something so radically stupid & idiotic. One of these lines, believe it or not, is Belfast to Paris via Dublin and Cork with a high speed ferry crossing the water between Ireland and France. Now the Belfast to Dublin section has been cut out of it which makes it even more ridiculous. I'm sure it'll be an enormous white elephant because I can't see people choosing not to swiftly fly from Dublin or Cork with Ryanair or Aer Lingus except those who are afraid of flying.
