    I’m having cheat years

I use ricotta, parmesan and egg rather than bechamel in my lasagna, with freshly made noodles. Then all the other ingredients as well. We have lasagna about once a month, and since we enjoy cooking together, we make it a two day project; making the sauce on the fist day, then refrigerating the sauce overnight, on the second day, we make the lasagna noodles and build the dishe before baking it.

Cite the scholalry source for what you said about metabolic rate because it is the reverse of what I've heard for years. Are you sure that isn't just a good rationalization for a cheat day? I looked up a news article myself on it. It was one Austrlians study. "Dr. Jennifer Ashton, ABC News' senior medical contributor, said that cheat days allow one's body and mind get a rest from dieting. She says that although she is skeptical that taking cheat days can boost one's metabolism, as some claim, she does see the psychological benefits of taking cheat days while dieting."

Ive learned that you Brits have a different idea on what food looks like. As an American, Lasagna is generally Tomato meat sauce (ground beef), pasta, and ricotta cheese layered interchangeably. This isn't a lasagna to me.

I actually have a recipe for "crockpot lasagna" that is wonderful, and it only requires browning the chosen meat first, the rest is all done in the crockpot. If you aren't worried about browned, drained meat, you can just toss it all in, turn on the crockpot, and go to work or do whatever for about 8 hours, then come home to a delicious meal. I brown the meat and drain it, but the rest is just layering it in, it doesn't require special ingredients. Cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, whatever cheese, or no cheese. Beef, chicken, pork, combo, fake meat. You can use jarred sauce, canned sauce, homemade sauce, that's up to you, too! I use whole-wheat pasta, but you can any kind you prefer, it doesn't even have to be lasagna noodles– I know one person who prefers layering spaghetti strands in diagonal patterns! The IMPORTANT parts are to use as many veges as you can stand (preferably fresh, but canned or frozen is good, too) and to make the layers evenly. Herbs and spices also to taste, but you might go easy the first time you make it (you can always add later). Veges add a LOT, and without them it's just not good. Not even to the "meat eaters" I know who rarely eat veges, they like the added flavor and texture (and probably also the boost of energy from the vitamins). I use broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, garlic, and whatever I have on hand. I don't shop special for it, though I usually use frozen veges because they are cheaper to keep on hand than fresh, except the tomatoes that don't come frozen, then I either used jarred or canned. Olive oil can be used to add fat for vegetarian or vegan versions. Just layer everything in, set it on low, and live your life, and it's maybe 10 minutes to prep outside of browning/draining meat (if you even do that). Also, much much less washing up to do after!

Sometimes I catch myself just staring at Ben's dynamic microexpressions instead of what he is saying.

The eyebrows popping out over the glasses, the hand gestures, that Beny way he finishes certain vowels with full lip articulation. Makes visuals intrinsically interesting while maintaining a mostly neutral and professional tone.

It's not creepy! Just learning… for my animation work. And he's a cookie.

Now i want to melt motz and parm into some besch and mix up the cooked lasagna noods in that like an itallian mac n cheese then use that to layer in the meat sauce.

  34. @Pawiie

    January 12, 2024 at 4:52 am

Honestly – you should have added portobello mushrooms . fry for colour, take em off before they go soft and add with each layer. they will hold their texture even after cooking and be amazing with it,

    January 12, 2024 at 4:52 am

Jamie – What is is that you always have with lasagna?
    Me – Salad!
    Barry – Garlic Bread!
    Jamie – Garlic. Bread.
    Me – Oh.

  38. @suparnamaiti.

    January 12, 2024 at 4:52 am

Oh my Gawd! I don't even allow shoes inside my house. So, obviously, seeing Barry's shoes on the counter, made me furious! It is unhygienic to say the least!
I remember once I saw James lying on the sofa with his shoes on. Though it seems to be rather common in the western culture, it gave me such discomfort that I couldn't concentrate on the rest of the video…
