US Central Command (Centcom) said the wave of strikes were “designed to continue degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping” in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian state media reported that air defences were activated in the capital Tehran. Explosions were also reported in Tabriz, Chabahar, Konarak, and in Bushehr, home to Iran’s only nuclear power plant.

Iran, which has retaliated against the US and its Middle East allies, warned of reprisals after Donald Trump said the US would soon hit an underground nuclear site near Natanz.

A man suspected of carrying out a terror rampage at a Berlin Pride event has been shot dead by police.

German police say officers fired at Abdul Ballout after he rushed towards them with a knife. They say he died at the scene.

Prosecutors say that Ballout drove a van into a crowd and stabbed multiple people in an attack that left one woman dead and at least 29 injured.

Ballout was a 21-year-old German citizen of Lebanese background who was known to police and is said to have tried to join the Islamic State group.

Germany’s interior minister said that he could not rule out the possibility of copycat attacks and announced that the country’s threat level was being raised.

One woman is dead and 29 others are injured after a car was driven into a crowd at a Berlin Pride event on Saturday night. Multiple people were then stabbed with a blade that “might have been a machete”.

Police have identified a suspect named Abdul Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese background who was known to police and previously had “committed a number of crimes”.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz says extremists “have no place in our society”, vowing to do everything in the government’s power to see justice served.

More than 700 people have been arrested in Britain and tens of millions of pounds have been seized after the police infiltrated a top secret communications system used by criminal gangs.

It’s being called the biggest and most significant law-enforcement operation ever carried out in the UK.

The gangs were using a device that looks like a normal mobile phone. But each one costs up to £3,000 and they were used by high-level criminals to talk to each other.

The gangs believed nobody could listen in, but they were wrong.
