Silent Hill, the psychological survival horror franchise from Japanese studio Konami, has for the most part been set in America, although the most recent excursion – Silent Hill f – was based in Japan in the 1960s era.

Now in Silent Hill Townfall, made by the Glasgow-based team Screen Burn, that location is in an entirely new place – Scotland, albeit a fictional part of it – St Amelia. Scotland was initially going to be more of an influence than a setting, but the team ultimately decided to embrace it fully.

Director Jon McKellan spoke to BBC Tech Now’s Laura Cress at Gamescom, Cologne.

The Bloodhound is half race car and half space ship, and a team from the UK are hoping it will eventually be the world’s fastest car.

It clocked 501mph on Wednesday, during a series of tests in South Africa. But it is still at least a year off attempting to break the land speed record of 763mph (1,228km/h).

And the British-built straight-line racer is designed to be capable, ultimately, of reaching 1,000mph.

The BBC met Bloodhound’s driver, RAF pilot Andy Green, to find out how the car works and what driving it feels like.

There has been major disruption at the Port of Dover, the UK’s biggest international ferry port.

Masked protesters who were blocking access were chanting “stop the boats”.

Ferry operators said they are aware of the “traffic disruption” and would accommodate passengers on the next departure once they arrive.

The UK government said: “The right to peaceful protest is fundamental to our democracy, but we condemn the behaviour in Dover and the travel disruption it has caused.”

The heads of Nato and the European Commission have warned that Russia is growing increasingly reckless and vowed to respond to a “new normal”.

“Leipzig marks a new escalation on European Union soil directly attributed to Russia,” said Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, a day after Germany blamed Russia for a failed drone attack last month on Leipzig airport.

“We have to step up and that means being ready to respond to Russia’s recklessness faster and better,” von der Leyen said. Nato Secretary General Mark Rutte said the whole alliance, which includes the US, stood “in full solidarity with Germany”.

Russia has rejected German accusations that a drone carrying explosives deliberately targeted a Ukrainian cargo plane on 4 August.
